Spanish veteran small forward Xavier Sanchez (195-G/F-75) has tied up a deal to stay at CB Murcia until the end of the season. The small forward has only played one game in the ACB to date will now be looking to make a more substantial contribution having been given a vote of confidence by club president who has made his month to month agreement permanent. Joel Freeland (208-F-87) had 15 points and 9 rebounds, Omar Cook (186-G-82, college: St.John's) (10 as) and Berni Rodriguez (197-F/G-80) scored 13 pts each, while Robert Archibald (212-C/F-80, agency: Priority Sports, college: Illinois) added 12 pts and 8 rebs. Marvis Thornton (194-G-77, college: St.John's) responded with 19 points and 6 boards in loss. Kaya Peker (207-C/F-80, agency: Court Side) and Bostjan Nachbar (207-G/F-80) posted 17 pts each. Unicaja had 23-20 lead after the opening period and later in the second quarter jumped to 43-36. After the breather, the hosts totally exploded. Taquan Dean was on fire, Omar Cook organized the plays in style, while Joel Freeland and Berni Rodriguez also were hot. They helped Unicaja to complete a run which allowed them fantastic 59-42 lead. However, Efes Pilsen immediately responded making 0-10 series and later managed to close the gap to 59-55 before the last quarter. With two minutes left the score was tied to 73-73, despite Unicaja had 71-68 before that and Efes was in 63-65 lead at the beginning of this period. Kaya Peker missed two FTs for Efes and Unicaja missed twice at the very end. The teams went to overtime, where Unicaja jumped to 80-77, thanks to bomb by Omar Cook. Later, Marvis Thornton brought Efes Pilsen to 87-86, but Berni Rodriguez drained a triple for Unicaja with less than one minute to go. Bostjan Nachbar was unsuccessful for 3 and Taquan Dean made a long range stroke lifting Unicaja to third straight Euroleague win.

Real Madrid crushed the reigning Euroleague champion tonight. That is the first loss for the Greens this season, meaning that there is no more unbeaten teams in Group D. Both, Whites and Greens, are together with Khimky on 2-1 now. Rimantas Kaukenas (193-G-77, college: Seton Hall) top-scored for Real Madrid with 17 points. In PAO, Nikola Pekovic (210-C-86, agency: Beo Basket) nailed 22 points and pulled down 7 rebounds. Andrew Nicholas (191-G-81, college: Maryland) was second scorer of the team with 16 pts. Panathinaikos had impressive beginning taking 9-19 and later after ten minutes of play 12-21 lead. Real Madrid responded at the beginning of the next period and mostly owing to Novica Velickovic, Sergi Vidal and Sergio Llull started with making the run. Darjus Lavrinovic and Jorge Garbajosa joined very soon and Real Madrid completed fantastic 20-0 for 32-23 lead. PAO finally scored and thanks to Andrew Nicholas and Shermantini closed the gap to 34-28 until the HT. In third period, Real Madrid kept the lead despite PAO came to minus 2 once. Soon the Whites jumped to plus 12, but were not able to keep more than 59-51 before the last ten minutes. Bullock and Rimantas Kaukenas lifted Real to 64-53 at the beginning of the last quarter and it was already clear that the Whites are on the right track to victory. PAO came to minus 7 in the finish, but Kaukenas and Velickovic stepped up for Real helping it to close this game in style.
