Minnesota Timberwolves guard Ricky Rubio (192-G-90) was named the NBA Western Conference rookie of the month for January.
The team announced the honor, which is only the teams fourth for rookie of the month in franchise history.
Rubio has scored 11.4 points, made 8.9 assists and 2.24 steals this season so far.

Regal Barca handed 94-80 loss to Zalgiris keeping the perfect score in Group H of the Euroleague Top 16. Barca jumped to 3-0, while at the same time Zalgirs faced with third straight loss. Visitors had pretty good first half of the game and they were holding 1-point lead, 42-43. However, Barca took control on them after the breather and with two strong periods registered double-digit victory at the end. Juan Carlos Navarro (192-G-80) scored 16 points and Marcelinho Huertas (191-PG-83, agency: Edge Sports) added 14 points, plus 6 assists. In Zalgiris, Sonny Weems (198-G/F-86, college: Arkansas) delivered 17 points. Robertas Javtokas (211-C-80, agency: Interperformances, college: Arizona) scored 13, while Paulius Jankunas (205-F-84, agency: Interperformances) and Milovan Rakovic (208-C-85) netted 12 points each. Montepaschi did a great job in Malaga on Thursday night. The Italian champion handed 68-91 home loss to Unicaja for perfect 3-0 record in Group F of the Euroleague Top 16. Montepaschi did a great job in Malaga on Thursday night. The Italian champion handed 68-91 home loss to Unicaja for perfect 3-0 record in Group F of the Euroleague Top 16.
