The most important game in the last round took place in La Palma between second ranked UB La Palma (16-8) and eighth ranked Girona FC (13-11) on Friday night. UB La Palma was defeated by Girona FC in a tough game at home 67-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of UB La Palma. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-67. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian power forward Rolands Freimanis (207-88, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Ignacio Ordin (183-78) who added 10 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Mexican-American forward Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) with 13 points and 6 rebounds. UB La Palma's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Girona FC maintains eighth position with 13-11 record. UB La Palma at the other side keeps the second place with eight games lost. They share the position with Menorca. Girona FC are looking forward to face higher ranked Lleida Basquet (#7) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. UB La Palma will play against Caceres 2016 (#12) and is hoping to win this game.
Melilla Baloncesto (#4) was upset in Pamplona by seventh ranked Grupo Iruna Navarra 83-75. The winners were led by guard Inaki Narros (194-81) who scored that evening 33 points (!!!) and Ondrej Starosta supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Even 19 points by guard Jose Salvador Arco (194-85) did not help to save the game for Melilla Baloncesto. Grupo Iruna Navarra have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Burgos. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Lleida. Grupo Iruna Navarra will play against Leche Rio Breogan (#13) in Lugo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Melilla Baloncesto will play at home against Ford Burgos (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
LEB Gold top team - Canarias (19-5) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat eleventh ranked Caceres 2016 (11-13) in Tenerife 80-71. The best player for the winners was Ricardo Guillen who scored 21 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Canarias' coach Alejandro Martinez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Daniel Rodriguez who recorded 12 points and 5 assists. Canarias maintains first position with 19-5 record. Loser Caceres 2016 keeps the eleventh place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Breogan and Knet Clavijo. Canarias will meet Baloncesto Leon (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caceres 2016 will play against UB La Palma and hope to secure a win.

Lleida Basquet at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. CB Clavijo's next round opponent will be higher ranked Palencia Baloncesto (#10) at home and it may be quite challenging game.

Lobe Huesca will face Basquet Mallorca (#14) on the road in the next round. Clinicas Rincon will play against CB Tarragona 2017 (#15).

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 24: Mallorca lost to Palencia on the opponent's court 73-83. Burgos managed to outperform Granada in a home game 89-76. Leon recorded a loss to Menorca on the road 74-65. CB Tarragona was defeated by Breogan on its own court 78-87.



Huesca - Clinicas Rincon 86-54

Sixteenth ranked Lobe Huesca (9-15) crushed at home 18th ranked Clinicas Rincon (4-20) by 32 points 86-54, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. The game was mostly controlled by Lobe Huesca. Clinicas Rincon was better in second period 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lobe Huesca forced 30 Clinicas Rincon turnovers. Lobe Huesca looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of American Alexander Franklin (196-88, college: Siena) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Diego Sanchez (198-78) who added 16 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Lobe Huesca players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Czech guard Jan Svandrlik (197-94) with 9 points and 7 rebounds and guard Luis Conde (193-93) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Very expected game when 14th ranked Basquet Mallorca (9-15) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Palencia Baloncesto (12-12) 83-73 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Palencia Baloncesto. Basquet Mallorca was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Palencia Baloncesto looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Adrian Moss (204-81, college: Florida) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Carles Bravo (192-79) who added 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was point guard Joan Carles Bivia (185-85) with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Shaun Green (203-87, college: Utah, agency: Limelight Hoops) scored 18 points and 9 rebounds. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Leon. Basquet Mallorca lost sixth consecutive game. An interesting game took place in Lleida where higher ranked Lleida Basquet (14-10) was upset on its own court by twelfth ranked CB Clavijo (11-13) 69-63. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lleida Basquet. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lleida Basquet won third quarter 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by Lleida Basquet helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Nigerian power forward Olaseni Lawal (208-86, college: Wayne St., MI) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). American point guard Mathew Witt (183-84, college: E.Kentucky) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Lawal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Caceres 2016 was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Canarias forced 19 Caceres 2016 turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (205-76) who scored 21 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (181-86) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Four Canarias players scored in double figures. Canarias' coach Alejandro Martinez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Daniel Rodriguez (180-84) who recorded 12 points and 5 assists and Belizean-American power forward Leon Williams (203-86, college: Ohio) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Menorca Basquet made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Menorca Basquet outrebounded Baloncesto Leon 44-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Daniel Perez (188-90) who added 13 points and 5 assists during the contest. Four Menorca Basquet players scored in double figures. Menorca Basquet's coach Josep Berrocal used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Melilla Baloncesto (#4) was upset in Pamplona by seventh ranked Grupo Iruna Navarra 83-75. It looked good early as Melilla Baloncesto took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Grupo Iruna Navarra had a 25-21 second period charge getting the lead and Melilla Baloncesto was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-83. The winners were led by guard Inaki Narros (194-81) who scored that evening 33 points (!!!) and Czech center Ondrej Starosta (215-79) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Even 19 points by guard Jose Salvador Arco (194-85) did not help to save the game for Melilla Baloncesto. American guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) added 18 points. Four Melilla Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Grupo Iruna Navarra have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Burgos. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. They share it with Lleida. Grupo Iruna Navarra will play against Leche Rio Breogan (#13) in Lugo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Melilla Baloncesto will play at home against Ford Burgos (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
