Here is the weekly review of the top performing Spanish players, who play currently abroad.

   #1. This week''s top performance spot belongs to an international power forward Pau Gasol (214-80). Gasol led Los Angeles Lakers to a victory over the Dallas Mavericks 96-91 in the NBA last Wednesday. He was MVP of the game. Gasol scored 24 points, had 9 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 3 balls. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group W Pacific Div.. The Los Angeles Lakers have quite an impressive 21-14 record this season. It''s Gasol''s fourth year with the team. He has very impressive stats this year: 16.9ppg, 10.5rpg, 3.2apg, 1.3bpg, 2FGP: 51.2%, 3FGP: 23.1% and FT: 78.4% in the 35 games he played so far. Gasol is in the roster of the senior Spanish National Team.

   #2. Number two best Spanish player abroad this week is an international power forward Serge Ibaka (208-89). He contributed to an overtime Oklahoma City Thunder''s victory against the Denver Nuggets 124-118 in the NBA last Sunday. Ibaka recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 15 rebounds. He also added 15 rebounds and 11 blocks in 41 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group W Northwest Div.. The Oklahoma City Thunder has quite an impressive 29-7 record this season. It was Oklahoma City Thunder''s seventh consecutive victory in a row. It''s Ibaka''s first year with the team. This season Ibaka averages: 8.2ppg, 7.6rpg, 3.1bpg, 2FGP: 51.0% and FT: 65.2%. He has a dual citizenship: Congolese and Congolese as he used to play in Spain. Ibaka is currently a member of the senior Spanish National Team.

   #3. Third place goes to an international center Marc Gasol (212-85, agency: Interperformances). He was the main contributor in a Memphis Grizzlies'' victory against the Philadelphia 76ers 89-76 in the NBA last Tuesday. Gasol was the best player in that game. He had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 14 rebounds. Gasol also added 14 rebounds7 assists and 5 blocks. The Memphis Grizzlies have a very good 20-15 record this season. Gasol is one of the most experienced players in a team as it''s his fourth year in Memphis Grizzlies'' roster. He has very impressive stats this year: 15.2ppg, 10.1rpg, 3.1apg, 2.2bpg, 2FGP: 50.3%, 3FGP: 14.3% and FT: 76.0% in the 35 games. Gasol is in the roster of the senior Spanish National Team.

   #4. Guard Ricky Rubio (192-90) contributed to a Minnesota Timberwolves'' victory against the Philadelphia 76ers 92-91 in the NBA last Sunday. He was the top player that evening. Rubio scored 22 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 37 minutes. The Minnesota Timberwolves have quite an impressive 18-19 record this season. It''s Rubio''s first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season: 10.9ppg, 4.2rpg, 8.2apg and 2.3spg. Rubio plays currently for the Spanish National Team.

   #5. International point guard Jose Manuel Calderon (190-81) contributed to a Toronto Raptors'' victory against the Detroit Pistons 103-93 in the NBA last Wednesday. He scored 6 points, had 8 rebounds and dished 15 assists in 33 minutes. The Toronto Raptors have 11-24 record this season. It''s Calderon''s seventh year playing for the team. Calderon belongs to league''s best passers and is ranked #3. He has very reliable stats this season: 10.9ppg, 3.4rpg and 8.8apg.

Martin scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Altshuler Saham Galil Gilboa (7-1) is placed first in group A. There are only 2 games left until the end of the Balkan League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It''s Martin''s first season with the team. This year his overall stats are: 9.5ppg, 4.8rpg, 1.4apg and 1.4spg in the eight games. Martin is a former international player as he played for the Spanish senior team eight years ago.


There are also few other players with good stats last week, but who all have never played for any of Spanish national teams, but who have Spanish nationality:

   #1. Luis Scola (206-F/C-80) was the major contributor in a Houston Rockets'' victory against the Utah Jazz 101-85 in the NBA last Sunday. He scored 26 points (!!!), had 9 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 39 minutes. The Houston Rockets have quite an impressive 21-15 record this season. It was Houston Rockets'' fourth consecutive victory in a row. It''s Scola''s fifth year with the team. This season Scola has very high stats. he averages: 15.2ppg, 6.2rpg and 1.6apg. Scola has a dual citizenship: Argentinian and Argentinian as he used to play in Spain. He previously played for the Argentinian National Team and is probably not eligible to play for the Spanish team.

   #2. Devin Davis (202-F-74, college: Miami, OH) contributed to a GECR Indalo''s victory against the third-ranked Libertad Sunchales 76-68 in the Argentinian LigaA last Friday. He was the top player that evening. Davis had a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 18 rebounds (made all of his six free throws). Gimnasia-Indalo Esgr.Comodoro Rivadavia (13-13) is placed ninth in the LigaA. There are only 4 games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game will be critical. Davis belongs to league''s best rebounders and is ranked #5. He has very reliable stats this year: 11.4ppg and 9.1rpg in the 16 games he played so far. Davis is a naturalized American.

   #3. Juan Ignacio Sanchez (193-G-77, college: Temple) contributed to a Wuber-Est.Bahia''s victory against the leader Obras 90-84 in the Argentinian LigaA last Friday. He was the top player that evening. Sanchez recorded 17 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals in 23 minutes. Wuber Estudiantes de Bahia Blanca (11-15) is placed 11th in the LigaA. There are only 4 games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. Sanchez is currently second on the league''s list of best passers and also on the list of most steals (fifth place). This season he has very good stats: 11.0ppg, 5.8rpg, 5.9apg and 1.6spg. Sanchez is another player who holds two passports: Spanish and Argentinian as he used to play in Spain. He previously played for the Argentinian National Team.

   #4. Gustavo Barrera (194-G-85) contributed to a Hebraica''s victory against the fourth-ranked Lagomar 88-64 in the Uruguayan LUB last Thursday. Barrera scored 9 points, had 4 boards, passed 9 assists and added 3 steals. Hebraica Macabi (9-1) is placed first in Serie 1 group. It was Hebraica''s ninth consecutive victory in a row. His team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And now that game is very crucial. Barrera belongs to league''s best passers and is ranked #1 and also on the list of most steals (second place). This year he has very good stats: 12.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 8.7apg and 2.4spg in the 33 games. Barrera has both Spanish and Uruguayan nationalities as he used to play in Spain. He previously played for the Uruguayan National Team.

   #5. Ariel Eslava (202-G/F-79) contributed to a San Martin Corrientes'' victory against the sixth-ranked Atenas 82-79 in the Argentinian LigaA last Sunday. Eslava scored 14 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in only a mere 14 minutes. San Martin Corrientes (6-20) is located at the very bottom in the LigaA. There are only 4 games left until the end of the Second Stage. Eslava''s total stats this season are: 6.7ppg and 4.0rpg. He also holds two passports: Spanish and Argentinian as he used to play in Spain.

   #6. Carlos Fernandez (197-F-87, college: IlIinois Tech) contributed to a Worcester Wolves'' victory against the seventh-ranked Durham Wildcats 90-70 in the British BBL last Friday. Fernandez scored 7 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 3 assists. This year Fernandez''s total stats are: 6.8ppg, 4.3rpg and 3.0apg in the 23 games.

   #7. Eric Sanchez (181-PG-82), who plays in the Czech Republic NBL could not help Levice (13-18) to beat Basketbal Svitavy despite his good performance on Saturday. He was the second best scorer with 12 points in 28 minutes. This season Sanchez has relatively solid stats: 10.2ppg, 2.6rpg, 2.8apg and 1.1spg.

   #8. Arnette Hallman (199-F-88), who plays in the Portuguese LPB could not help Academica (7-10) to beat Vitoria SC. He scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. This year Hallman''s total stats are: 6.7ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.3apg and 1.5spg in the 17 games. He is a naturalized American.

   #9. Rafael Lopez (204-C-86) contributed to a Etendard de Brest''s victory against the tenth-ranked Charleville-Mezieres 84-82 in the French NM1 (third division) last Friday. Lopez scored 9 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 17 minutes. This season Lopez has relatively solid stats: 10.3ppg and 6.3rpg.

   #10. Ludwing Irazabal (201-C/F-73), who plays in the Venezuelan LPB could not help Panteras (3-14) to beat Guaiqueries. He scored 5 points. This year Irazabal''s total stats are: 1.4ppg and 1.1rpg in the eight games. He holds both Spanish and Venezuelan passports as he used to play in Spain. Irazabal previously played for the Venezuelan National Team.

Palma Air Europa de Palma de Mallorca (LEB Gold) added to their roster 27-year old Lithuanian center Tautvydas Slezas (207-115kg-90, agency: Interperformances) from RETAbet Gipuzkoa BC San Sebastian. In 33 LEB Gold games in Spain he recorded 7.1ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.5apg last season. He helped them to win the LEB Gold title (twice). Slezas also spent pre-season at RETAbet that year.
