The most important game in the last round took place in Mahon between second ranked Menorca Basquet (17-9) and seventh ranked Ford Burgos (16-10) on Saturday night. Menorca Basquet was defeated by Ford Burgos in a tough game at home 68-72. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Menorca Basquet. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-8. But Menorca Basquet won second period 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. British-American forward Darren Phillip (201-78, college: Fairfield) orchestrated the victory by scoring 4 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Rafael Huertas (189-84, agency: Court Side) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) replied with 6 points and 14 rebounds for Menorca Basquet. Menorca Basquet's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Ford Burgos moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lleida and Navarra. Menorca Basquet at the other side keeps the second position with nine games lost. They share it with La Palma. Ford Burgos is looking forward to face league's leader Canarias in Tenerife in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Menorca Basquet will play on the road against Melilla Baloncesto and is hoping to win this game.
LEB Gold top team - Canarias (20-5) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventeenth ranked CB Granada (6-20) in Tenerife 88-77. Guard Jaime Heras (193-82) scored 14 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Jakim Donaldson chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Canarias' coach Alejandro Martinez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Canarias maintains first position with 20-5 record. CB Granada lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with 20 games lost. Canarias will play against Ford Burgos (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. CB Granada will play against UB La Palma (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Melilla Baloncesto (15-10) and Leche Rio Breogan (13-13), which took place in Lugo. Higher ranked Melilla Baloncesto lost to tenth ranked Leche Rio Breogan in a road game 67-71 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Melilla Baloncesto. Brooks Sales notched a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists by Jose Salvador Arco did not help to save the game for Melilla Baloncesto. Leche Rio Breogan moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Knet Clavijo and Girona. Loser Melilla Baloncesto dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Leche Rio Breogan will meet bottom-ranked Clinicas Rincon (#18) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Melilla Baloncesto will play against the league's second-placed Menorca Basquet (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
Another upset was a game between Girona FC (13-13) and Palencia Baloncesto (12-13), which took place in Palencia. Higher ranked Girona FC lost to thirteenth ranked Palencia Baloncesto in a road game 65-80. The best player for the winners was Ian O'Leary who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Palencia Baloncesto's coach Nacho Lezkano allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Leon. Girona FC at the other side keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Palencia Baloncesto's next round opponent will be Caceres 2016 (#13) on the road.
The game between sixth ranked Grupo Iruna Navarra (16-10) and 18th ranked Clinicas Rincon (4-22) in Pamplona on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Grupo Iruna Navarra outscored guests from Malaga 75-53. Jorge Garcia orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grupo Iruna Navarra moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Burgos and Lleida. Clinicas Rincon lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Grupo Iruna Navarra will face Basquet Mallorca (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Clinicas Rincon will play against Leche Rio Breogan (#10) in Lugo.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 26: Mallorca beat CB Tarragona on the road 73-69. Huesca lost to Knet Clavijo on its own court 71-76. Caceres unfortunately lost to Lleida in a road game 65-69. La Palma managed to beat Leon at home 82-76.
The most impressive performance of 26th round was 21 points and 15 rebounds by Jose Angel Antelo of Caceres.



Breogan - Melilla 71-67

Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Melilla Baloncesto (15-10) and Leche Rio Breogan (13-13), which took place in Lugo. Higher ranked Melilla Baloncesto lost to tenth ranked Leche Rio Breogan in a road game 67-71 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Melilla Baloncesto. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-19. But Melilla Baloncesto won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Leche Rio Breogan won last quarter 19-17. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Leche Rio Breogan outrebounded Melilla Baloncesto 33-17 including 20 on the defensive glass. American power forward Brooks Sales (208-80, college: Villanova) notched a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Nigerian-Dominican guard Sean Ogirri (188-86, college: Wyoming) supported him with 19 points and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 12 points and 10 assists by guard Jose Salvador Arco (194-85) did not help to save the game for Melilla Baloncesto. Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Baloncesto Leon (12-13) lost on the road to third ranked UB La Palma (17-9) 82-76 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Baloncesto Leon trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 31-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-82 at the end of the game. UB La Palma looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Cristian Diaz (185-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 assists. Mexican-American forward Roman Martinez (201-88, college: N.Mexico) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four UB La Palma players scored in double figures. UB La Palma's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) replied with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American-Italian power forward Cristopher Mortellaro (206-82, college: Drury) added 16 points in the effort for Baloncesto Leon. UB La Palma moved-up to second place, which they share with Menorca. Loser Baloncesto Leon dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. UB La Palma will face CB Granada (#17) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Baloncesto Leon will play against Lleida Basquet (#4).

LEB Gold top team - Canarias (20-5) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat seventeenth ranked CB Granada (6-20) in Tenerife 88-77. The game was mostly controlled by Canarias. CB Granada was better in third quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Canarias forced 21 CB Granada turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Guard Jaime Heras (193-82) scored 14 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Canarias' coach Alejandro Martinez used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds and forward Angel Hernandez (196-91) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Four Canarias and five CB Granada players scored in double figures. Canarias maintains first position with 20-5 record. CB Granada lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth place with 20 games lost. Canarias will play against Ford Burgos (#6) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. CB Granada will play against UB La Palma (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The game between sixth ranked Grupo Iruna Navarra (16-10) and 18th ranked Clinicas Rincon (4-22) in Pamplona on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Grupo Iruna Navarra outscored guests from Malaga 75-53. The game without a history. Grupo Iruna Navarra led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Clinicas Rincon's 18. Grupo Iruna Navarra forced 25 Clinicas Rincon turnovers. Power forward Jorge Garcia (203-77) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 5 rebounds. Czech center Ondrej Starosta (215-79) contributed with 9 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Bosnian center Ognen Kuzmin (215-90) replied with 11 points and 5 rebounds and Bosnian forward Dejan Todorovic (-94) added 12 points in the effort for Clinicas Rincon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Grupo Iruna Navarra moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Burgos and Lleida. Clinicas Rincon lost third consecutive game. They stay dead last with 22 lost games. Grupo Iruna Navarra will face Basquet Mallorca (#14) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Clinicas Rincon will play against Leche Rio Breogan (#10) in Lugo.
