An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Caceres. First ranked Femenino Caceres faced second-best Socinsa Bembibre. Host Femenino Caceres (16-3) defeated guests from Bembibre (15-5) 77-70. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 24-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Femenino Caceres dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Socinsa Bembibre's 28. They outrebounded Socinsa Bembibre 47-26 including a 23-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Kourtney Brown (182-88, college: Buffalo) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Roso Buch (179-92) chipped in 11 points. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Rita Montenegro (188-82) who recorded 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Femenino Caceres maintains first position in Group A with 16-3 record. Socinsa Bembibre at the other side keeps the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Cortegada. Femenino Caceres are looking forward to face Pabellon Ourense (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Socinsa Bembibre will play against ADBA (#8) in Aviles and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

It was a good game for point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) who led her team to a victory with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 8 steals. Geisa Campos contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Lidia Gesteira (172-72) replied with 14 points for Real Canoe. Pais Vasco have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group B with 19-4 record. Real Canoe at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Casablanca. Pais Vasco will play against Casablanca (#4) in Zaragoza in the next round. Real Canoe will play at home against Orion-GDKO in Galdakao and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Alvargomez Guadalajara (0-19) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 79-73 loss to ninth ranked Pabellon Ourense (8-12) in Guadalajara on Sunday evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Stephanie Geehan who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Vanesa Blanco with 27 points. Pabellon Ourense maintains ninth position in Group A with 8-12 record. Loser Alvargomez Guadalajara still closes the standings with 19 games lost. Pabellon Ourense will meet at home league's leader Femenino Caceres in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Alvargomez Guadalajara will play against Cortegada (#3) in Vilagarcia Arousa and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Palma (0-20) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-45 loss to ninth ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (11-11) in Palma de Mallorca. The winners were led by Mariana Gonzalez who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ASEFA Estudiantes have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position in Group B with 11-11 record. Palma at the other side still closes the standings with 20 games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes will have a break next round. Palma will play on the road against Fundal Alcobendas (#7) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
The game in Santa Cruz de T. was also quite interesting. Third ranked Cortegada (15-5) played at the court of 5th ranked Cajacanarias (12-8). Cortegada defeated Cajacanarias 74-60 on Saturday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cajacanarias. The best player for the winners was Maria Ylenia Manzanares who scored 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Cortegada moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Bembibre. Loser Cajacanarias dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Cortegada will face Alvargomez Guadalajara (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Cajacanarias will play against Universitario de Ferrol (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 24 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
In Group A Ferrol crushed Arxil Pontev. in a road game 95-73. Cod.Carmelitas smashed Aguere at home 71-34. Ensino won against Aros Leon on the opponent's court 76-72. ADBA managed to outperform Valladolid in a home game 75-73.
In Group B Irlandesas managed to beat Orion-GDKO on the road 67-60. Las Rozas was defeated by Casablanca on its own court 59-64. Cravic Reus was beaten by Las Gaunas in Logrono 79-71. Conquero won against Gernika at home 81-73. Alcobendas outscored Segle XXI on the opponent's court 59-39.
The best stats of 24th round was 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds by Heta Korpivaara of Ferrol.


Group A
Arxil Pontev. - Ferrol 73-95

There was no surprise when 10th ranked Arxil Pontevedra (7-13) was crushed at home by sixth ranked Universitario de Ferrol (13-7) 95-73 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Universitario de Ferrol. Arxil Pontevedra was better in second period 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Universitario de Ferrol made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Finnish swingman Heta Korpivaara (187-84, college: Seton Hall) who scored 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). American-Dutch center Carrie Snikkers (190-89, college: Hope) chipped in 23 points and 7 rebounds. Four Universitario de Ferrol players scored in double figures. Universitario de Ferrol's coach Lino Lopez felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Bulgarian forward Daniela Peteva (179-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who recorded 17 points and 5 rebounds and Russian center Olga Fedorova (189-78) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Universitario de Ferrol moved-up to fifth place in Group A. Loser Arxil Pontevedra keeps the tenth position with 13 games lost. Universitario de Ferrol will face Cajacanarias (#7) in Santa Cruz de T. in the next round. Arxil Pontevedra will play on the road against Aguere in Santa Cruz de T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Ourense where seventh ranked Codigalco Carmelitas (12-8) smashed 11th ranked Aguere (6-10) 71-34 on Saturday. The game without a history. Codigalco Carmelitas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aguere to just 3 points in fourth quarter and to 14 points in second half. Codigalco Carmelitas dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Aguere's 24. Codigalco Carmelitas forced 19 Aguere turnovers. The best player for the winners was Cuban power forward Zuleira Aties (190-80) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Necolia Simmons (183-87, college: USF) chipped in 7 points and 7 rebounds. Codigalco Carmelitas' coach Juan Antonio Rodriguez felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was center Yaiza Gonzalez (190-88) who recorded 11 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Blanca Tineo (178) added 9 points respectively. Maquinaria Ensino made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-13. But Orion-GDKO won second period 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Irlandesas forced 21 Orion-GDKO turnovers and outrebounded them 41-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was center Patricia Valiente (185-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Laura Jornet (181-85) chipped in 20 points. Four Irlandesas players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Greek forward Vicky Volonaki (179-80) who recorded 22 points and American swingman Katie Gearlds (186-84, college: Purdue) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively. American power forward Lori Nero (188-80, college: Louisville) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Chelsea Cole (190-89, college: Pittsburgh) who recorded a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Kirenia Cabrera (186-84) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Casablanca moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Real Canoe. Las Rozas lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the twelfth position with 15 games lost. Five ASEFA Estudiantes players scored in double figures. Even 17 points by point guard Francisca Vachiano (168-91) did not help to save the game for Palma. Laura Delgado (-93) added 7 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. ASEFA Estudiantes have an impressive six-game winning streak.
