The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with defeat of the leader, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Femenino Caceres (17-4) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Cortegada (17-5) 83-71. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Femenino Caceres. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Group A. The game was mostly controlled by Cortegada. Femenino Caceres managed to win third quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Cortegada won last quarter 23-13. They also forced 25 Femenino Caceres turnovers. Guard Montserrat Gilabert (172-G-80) scored 27 points to lead the charge for the winners and guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) chipped in 17 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals during the contest. American forward Kourtney Brown (182-88, college: Buffalo) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Cortegada have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Bembibre. Femenino Caceres at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Cortegada is looking forward to face ADBA (#8) in Aviles in the next round where they are favorite. Femenino Caceres will play on the road against Cajacanarias (#7) in Santa Cruz de T. and is hoping to win this game.
LF2 top team - Pais Vasco (20-5) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Gernika (9-14) in San Sebastian 68-56. Point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) notched 20 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and Iulene Olaberria supported her with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Even 24 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall) did not help to save the game for Gernika. Gernika's coach Mario Lopez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Pais Vasco maintains first position in Group B with 20-5 record, which they share with Conquero. Newly promoted Gernika keeps the tenth place with 14 games lost. They share the position with Orion-GDKO. Pais Vasco will play against Cravic Reus (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Gernika will play against Orion-GDKO in Galdakao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Bottom-ranked Alvargomez Guadalajara (0-21) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 21th consecutive match to seventh ranked Cajacanarias (13-9) 76-57 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Melissa Goodall who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds. Victoria Robles produced 13 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Cajacanarias moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Cod.Carmelitas. Loser Alvargomez Guadalajara still closes the standings with 21 games lost. Cajacanarias will meet at home league's leader Femenino Caceres in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Alvargomez Guadalajara will play against Universitario de Ferrol (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Palma (0-22) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 22th consecutive match to eighth ranked Irlandesas (14-10) 87-50. Maria Lineira orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Palma's coach Trini Bou gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Irlandesas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place in Group B, which they share with Las Gaunas. Palma at the other side still closes the standings with 22 games lost. Irlandesas' next round opponent will be Fundal Alcobendas (#8) at home. Palma will play against Real Canoe (#3) in Madrid and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
Important game to mention about took place in Las Rozas. Thirteenth ranked Las Rozas (8-16) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 12th ranked Cravic Reus (7-17) 63-60 in the game for the twelfth place. Irene Herradas scored 12 points to lead the charge for the winners. Las Rozas' coach Jose Vicente used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Las Rozas moved-up to twelfth place in Group B. Cravic Reus lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Las Rozas will face higher ranked Space Tanit Eivissa (#7) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cravic Reus will play against the league's leader Pais Vasco (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
