Lakers get Pau Gasol for Zach Randolph offer from Grizzlies - Jun 28, 2012

Pau Gasol
Pau Gasol (7'0''-F/C-80) must be tired of hearing all of the rumors about where he may or may not be playing next season.

The heat is really turning up lately, though, as reports began to surface on Wednesday that the Memphis Grizzlies have offered power forward Zach Randolph (6'9''-C-81, college: Michigan St.) to the Los Angeles Lakers in return for Gasols services.

After the Lakers recently made it clear that they were actively shopping Gasol, the rumor mill has been churning out interested teams left in right. Among the reported teams in the hunt for the big man are the Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Hornets and Grizzlies. All of the reports, however, have been speculation until the former NBA Insider Peter Vecsey broke the news of the Grizzlies offering up Randolph.

Memphis, by the way, says a source, is offering Zach Randolph, another solid citizen, for Pau, Vecsey said via his personal Twitter account.

Vecsey also went on to say that small forward Rudy Gay isnt currently an option, but things can chance in a hurry if the Grizzlies really want to reunite the Gasol brothers in Memphis.

As for the Lakers, making the trade for Randolph might not be that bad of an option. Not only would it rid them of the player that they seem so desperate to dump, but they would get about the same value in return. Randolph has more tread left on his tires than Gasol and was dominating two seasons ago before missing the majority of the 2011-2012 campaign due to injury. If he can, however, return to his 2010-2011 form, hed be well worth the trade.

More than likely, though, the Lakers will be looking to get some youth back in a trade for Gasol. Unless the Grizzlies find a way to sweeten the deal, this Gasol-Randolph trade going through is a bit of a stretch.

Surprisingly, the trade rumors have yet to reach their boiling point. Stay tuned.
