Here is the weekly review of the top performing Spanish players, who play currently abroad.


Laia Palau

   #1. This week's number one is an experienced international guard Laia Palau (178-79, currently plays in Poland). Palau contributed to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked PTK Pabianice (0-3) crushing them 89-39 in the Polish PLKK last Saturday. She recorded 6 points and added 6 passes. CCC Polkowice (4-0) is placed second in the PLKK. So far her team won all four games in the Regular Season. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen. It's Palau's first year with the team. Palau is currently second on the league's list of best passers. This season she averages: 10.0ppg, 3.3rpg, 5.0apg, 2.3spg. Palau played for the Spanish senior national team years ago.

   #2. Second place goes to former U20 international center Celia Menendez (188-90, currently plays in Belgium). She led R.Spirou Monceau to a victory against the closely-ranked Blue Cats (0-3) 61-56 in the Belgian Division I on Sunday night. Menendez scored 11 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 24 minutes. Spirou Monceau Charleroi (2-1) is placed eighth in the Division I. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. This year Menendez's overall stats are: 9.0ppg, 4.5rpg, 1.5spg and FT: 57.1% in the two games she played so far. She played for the Spanish U20 national team in 2010.

   #3. The Spanish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international forward Tamara Abalde (190-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LFB. Abalde could not help one of league's weakest teams Basket Landes (2-2) to beat Charleville-Mezieres (2-2). She was the second best scorer with 9 points. Abalde also added 4 rebounds. But Basket Landes was defeated 42-35 on the road by the higher-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (#9). . It's Abalde's first season with the team. Her total stats this year are: 7.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.3spg, 2FGP: 53.3%, 3FGP: 33.3% and FT: 57.1%. Abalde played for the Spanish national team years ago.

   #4. Guard Cristina Ouvina (174-90, currently plays in Poland) managed to help TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in a victory against the closely-ranked AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (4-1) crushing them 58-36 in the Polish PLKK last Saturday. She recorded only 2 points, 3 assists and 4 steals in 15 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow (4-0) is placed third in the PLKK. So far her team won all four games in the Regular Season. . This year Ouvina's total stats are: 7.3ppg, 4.3rpg, 1.7apg and 3.0spg in the three games. She used to play for the Spanish national team earlier this year.

   #5. Former U20 international guard Gabriela Ocete (170-88, currently plays in France) contributed to Tarbes' surprising victory against the fifth-ranked Perpignan (2-2) 60-53 in the French LFB on Saturday night. Ocete recorded 11 points. Tarbes Gespe Bigorre (1-3) is placed 12th in the LFB. They ended the series of three consecutive loses. . Ocete has averaged so far 9.3ppg, 2.3apg and 2.0spg. She used to play for the Spanish U20 national team four years ago.

Valentina Aragonese

   #6. Forward Valentina Aragonese (173-79, also represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Italy) was not able to help Ancona (0-0) in their game against Ragusa (2-0) in the Italian A2 (12th division). Aragonese scored 6 points in 29 minutes. The first-placed Ancona was badly defeated 67-48 at home by the second-ranked Ragusa in the South group. . Aragonese has averaged so far 9.0ppg and 2.5rpg in the two games. Despite she played previously for the Chilean national team, Aragonese is also a former international player as she played for the Spanish senior team four years ago.

   #1. Lorena Infantes (171-PG-81, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Italy) was the major contributor in Orvieto's victory against the eighth-ranked Parma (0-1) 57-54 in the Italian A1 in Sunday night's game. She recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 36 minutes. It was his first game for Orvieto this season. Her team is placed third in the A1. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen.

Gernika Bizkaia (LFB) inked 26-year old point guard Juana Molina-Prados (172-91) from Campus Promete. In 24 LFB games she recorded 5.7ppg, 2.8rpg and 1.7apg last season. Among other achievements Molina-Prados' team won Spanish LF2 Group A Regular Season in 2015. She received also Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LF2 1st Team award in 2015. Umo Diallo signs at Araski - 4 days ago
ADB Araski Arabako Emakumeen Saskibaloia (LFB) landed 19-year old center Umo Diallo (192-98) from Campus Promete. But in 9 LFB games she averaged just 1.9ppg and 1.1rpg last season. Part of previous (2015-16) season Diallo spent at Sant Adria (LF2) where in 10 games she had 5.3ppg and 2.7rpg. She helped them to make it to the final. Campus Promete Logrono (LFB) re-signed 31-year old American power forward Leslie Knight (184-86). She has played there for the last three seasons. In 26 LFB games she averaged 12.7ppg, 5.2rpg and 1.4apg last season. Among other achievements Knight's team made it to the Swiss LNA Semifinals in 2009. She received also Eurobasket.com Spanish LF2 All-Imports Team award back in 2013.
