Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top performances of Spaniards who are currently playing abroad.


Sancho Lyttle

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Sancho Lyttle (192-83, college: Houston, currently plays in Euroleague). She led her Turkish team Galatasaray to a 2-point victory over the seventh-ranked USK Praha (0-3) 58-56 in the Euroleague in Wednesday night's game. Lyttle was MVP of the game. She had a double-double by scoring 17 points and getting 12 rebounds in 27 minutes on the court. Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul (3-0) is placed first in group C. So far her team won all three games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Lyttle's first year with the team. Lyttle belongs to league's best rebounders (ranked #6) and also on the list of most steals (fifth place). She has very reliable stats this year: 11.3ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.7spg in the three games she played so far. Lyttle has a dual citizenship: Vincentian and Spanish. Ex-EBE Promociones P.D.V. Santa Eulalia player is currently a member of the Spanish senior national team.

Silvia Dominguez

   #2. Second place goes to an international point guard Silvia Dominguez (167-87, currently plays in Euroleague). She led her Russian team UMMC Ekaterinburg to a victory against the sixth-ranked Lupa Promotion (0-2) 83-77 in the Euroleague last Wednesday. Dominguez scored 12 points and added 3 passes. UMMC Ekaterinburg (2-0) is placed second in group C. But the season just started, so everything may happen. It's Dominguez's first year with the team. This season she averages: 8.0ppg, 2.0rpg, 4.0apg, 3FGP: 37.5%. Dominguez played for the Spanish national team in 2011.

   #3. The Spanish player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced international guard Elisa Aguilar (172-76, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: G.Washington, currently plays in Russia), who plays in the Russian PBL. Aguilar could not help Spartak Vidnoye (2-1) in their last game on Sunday. Despite her good performance Spartak Vidnoye was badly defeated 80-62 on the road by the higher-ranked Dynamo Moscow (#3). Aguilar was the top scorer with 12 points. But there are still lots of games to play and it's a long way to go. Aguilar's overall stats this season are: 8.3ppg, 1.3rpg, 1.3apg, 1.3spg. She is also a member of the Spanish senior national team.

   #4. Guard Laia Palau (176-79, currently plays in Euroleague) was the major contributor in a CCC Polkowice's victory against the closely-ranked Perfumerias Avenida (1-1) 68-59 in the Euroleague last Tuesday. Palau scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 33 minutes. CCC Polkowice (1-2) is placed fifth in group C. It's Palau's first season with the team. Palau belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #2 with 6.3apg. This year she also averages: 8.7ppg and 7.0rpg in the three games. Palau is also Spanish national team player.

   #5. International guard Cristina Ouvina (174-90, currently plays in Euroleague) was not able to help Wisla Can-Pak (0-3) in their game against IMOS Brno (1-1) in the Euroleague. Despite her good performance on Wednesday night She was the second best scorer with 10 points. Ouvina also added 8 boards, passed 4 assists and added 4 steals. Ouvina is currently seventh on the list of best passers and also on the list of most steals (first place). Her overall stats this season are: 8.0ppg, 5.7rpg, 5.3apg and 4.0spg. Ouvina plays currently for the Spanish national team.

Point guard Nuria Martinez (175-84, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Telge (0-1) crushing them 81-51 in the Eurocup in Thursday night's game. She scored 7 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 27 minutes. Pankup TED Kayseri Kolejspor (1-1) is placed second in group E. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Martinez is currently third on the list of most steals with 3.0spg. She also averaged so far 7.5ppg, 4.0rpg and 4.0apg in the two games. Martinez is a former international player as she played for the Spanish senior team two years ago.

   #7. International forward Amaya Valdemoro (183-76, also represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for Tarsus Bld (1-2) in their game against Canik Bld (1-2) in the Turkish TKBL. Despite her very good performance last Saturday She was the top scorer with 21 points. Valdemoro also added 3 steals. Valdemoro belongs to league's most steals and is ranked #3. She has individually a very good season with high stats. Valdemoro averages: 16.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 3.0spg. She is also Spanish national team player.

   #8. Guard Gabriela Ocete (170-88, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to an easy victory against the third-ranked Spartak Noginsk (1-1) crushing them 71-42 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. Ocete scored 11 points and had 3 steals in 28 minutes. Tarbes Gespe Bigorre (2-0) is placed first in group C. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Ocete's overall stats are: 6.5ppg, 3.0rpg, 4.0apg and 3.0spg in the two games. She used to play for the Spanish U20 national team back in 2008.

   #9. Former U20 international center Celia Menendez (188-90, currently plays in Belgium) contributed to a R.Spirou Monceau's victory against the ninth-ranked Jeugd Gentson (2-4) 76-67 in the Belgian Division I last Saturday. She scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in 30 minutes. Spirou Monceau Charleroi (4-2) is placed fifth in the Division I. Menendez has relatively good stats this year: 11.6ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.4spg in the five games. She used to play for the Spanish U20 national team two years ago.

   #10. Forward Anna Montanana (186-80, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, college: G.Washington, currently plays in Turkey) helped Istanbul Universitesi win their game against the league outsider Edremit (0-3) 82-70 in the Turkish TKBL on Saturday night. Montanana scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Istanbul Universitesi SK (2-1) is placed fifth in the TKBL. Montanana's total stats this season are: 9.7ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Spanish National Team roster.

   #11. International forward Tamara Abalde (190-89, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Eurocup) managed to help Basket Landes to win against the leader Dynamo Moscow 79-73 in the Eurocup last Wednesday. Abalde scored only 3 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Her total stats this season are: 3.5ppg and 4.0rpg. Abalde plays currently for the Spanish national team.


The list of other players, who all have Spanish passport but never been selected to any of Spanish national teams:

   #1. Maya Moore (183-SG-89, college: Connecticut, currently plays in China) led Shanxi to a surprising victory over the third-ranked Bayi Kylin (2-1) 72-59 in the Chinese WCBA on Saturday night. She was the best player in that game. Moore had a double-double by scoring 37 points and getting 17 rebounds. She also added 5 assists, 2 blocks and 4 steals (went 6 for 6 at the free throw line) in 39 minutes. It was his first game for Shanxi this season; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Moore's second season in pro basketball. Her team is placed ninth in the WCBA. But the season is still in it's first stage and everything can happen.

   #2. Laura Garcia (176-G-81, currently plays in France), who plays in the French LFB could not help Union Hainaut (1-6) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Garcia's good performance Union Hainaut was defeated 65-54 at home by the higher-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (#9). She recorded 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Garcia's total stats this season are: 8.3ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Natasha Lacy (178-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: UTEP, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to a Elitzur Ramla's victory against the fourth-ranked MBK Ruzomberok (0-2) 77-70 in the Eurocup in Thursday night's game. Lacy scored 10 points, grabbed 8 boards, dished 9 assists and stole 4 balls in 30 minutes. Elitzur Ramla (1-1) is placed second in group H. There are only three games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Lacy is the league's best passer with 7.5apg. She also averaged so far 9.5ppg, 7.0rpg and 2.5spg in the two games she played so far.

   #4. Helena Boada (174-G-87, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Slovenia), who plays in the Slovenian SKL was not able to help Domzale (0-3) in their last game. Despite her very good performance Domzale lost 50-56 on the road to the higher-ranked (#5) Jezica. Boada was the second best scorer with 18 points. She also added 8 rebounds in 33 minutes. So far Domzale lost all three games in the Regular Season. Boada has individually a very good year with high stats. She averages: 18.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 2.0spg in the two games.

   #5. Experienced Valentina Aragonese (173-F-79, agency: Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Ancona (3-2) in their game against Meccanica NB (5-3) in the Italian A2 (12th division). Aragonese scored 6 points, had 5 boards, dished 5 assists and stole 3 balls. The fourth-placed Ancona was edged 55-54 in Bologna by the lower-ranked Meccanica NB (#6) in the South group. Aragonese's total stats this season are: 9.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.2apg and 1.3spg. She has a dual citizenship: Chilean and Spanish.

Guard Leonor Rodriguez Manso (180-G-91) had a great game in the last round for league's second-best Girona and that's her to receive a Court Side Player of the Week award for round 19. The 25-year old guard had the game-high 20 points adding eight rebounds and three assists for Girona in her team's victory, helping them to outclass Zamarat (#12, 6-13) with 27-point margin 88-61. Guard Paula Palomares (174-G-84) had a great game in the last round for top-ranked Alcobendas, receiving a Court Side LF2 Player of the Week award for round 19. The 32-year old player was the main contributor (24 points, seven rebounds and seven assists) to her team's victory, helping them to beat Rivas Promete (#6, 11-8) 79-70.
