The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Navarra Pamplona (3-1) on the court of leader Rivas Ecopolis on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Rivas Ecopolis 64-53. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Navarra Pamplona. The game without a history. Rivas Ecopolis led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Navarra Pamplona's 28. They outrebounded Navarra Pamplona 44-31 including 32 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Chilean center Ziomara Morrison (193-C-89, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Swingman Queralt Casas (178-92) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Rivas Ecopolis' coach Miguel Mendez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Latvian power forward Aija Putnina (191-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 15 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Undefeated Rivas Ecopolis (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Navarra Pamplona at the other side keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Perfumerias and Burgos. Rivas Ecopolis are looking forward to face league's second-placed Jopisa Burgos on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Navarra Pamplona will play against Caja Rural in Zamora and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Important game to mention about took place in Salamanca. Fourth ranked Perfumerias Avenida (3-1) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Argon Uni Girona (2-2) 65-63 on Saturday evening. The former international swingman Marta Fernandez (178-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points. Lucila Pascua contributed with 5 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Perfumerias Avenida's coach Alberto Miranda allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. point guard Noemi Jordana (173-80) answered with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for Argon Uni Girona. The victory was the third consecutive win for Perfumerias Avenida. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Burgos and UNB Obenasa. Argon Uni Girona at the other side keeps the fifth position with two games lost. Perfumerias Avenida will play against Cadi ICG S. (#9) in Seu D'urgell in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Argon Uni Girona will play at home against Hondarribia-Irun (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Socinsa Bembibre can celebrate their first win this season after four consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Conquero (1-4) 81-58 on Saturday. Rita Montenegro stepped up and scored 22 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Joanna Walich responded with 24 points and 6 rebounds. Socinsa Bembibre left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with defeated Conquero. Socinsa Bembibre will meet higher ranked Gran Canaria (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Conquero will have a break next round.
The game in Zamora was also worth to mention about. 7th ranked Cadi ICG S. (1-3) played at the court of eighth ranked Caja Rural (2-3). Caja Rural defeated Cadi ICG S. 84-72. Taru Tuukkanen nailed a double-double by scoring 29 points and 12 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) for the winning side. Cadi ICG S.'s coach Andreu Bou rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Caja Rural moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Hondar.-Irun and Gran Canaria. Cadi ICG S. at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Caja Rural's next round opponent will be higher ranked Navarra Pamplona (#4) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cadi ICG S. will play against Perfumerias Avenida (#3) in Salamanca.

In the last game of round 5 Gran Canaria was defeated by Hondar.-Irun in Hondarribia 67-61.

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Gran Canaria (2-3) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Hondarribia-Irun (2-3) 67-61. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 17-12. But Gran Canaria won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Gran Canaria outrebounded Hondarribia-Irun 39-27 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Chilean center Tatiana Gomez (193-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) nailed 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Sandra Ygueravide (172-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 14 points and 5 assists. Hondarribia-Irun's coach Anne Pena allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Leticia Romero (176-95) came up with 18 points and 4 assists and international power forward Vanessa Ble (190-91) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Gran Canaria in the defeat.
