Mario Cabanas (207-C-85) had an amazing evening in the last round for Planasa NV and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com LEB Gold Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 27-year old center had a double-double of 24 points and ten rebounds, while his team was edged out by FCB Regal II (#3, 4-2) in overtime 89-85. Planasa NV maintains the 7th position in Spanish LEB Gold. Planasa NV is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 3rd lost game this season out of 6 games. Cabanas turned to be Planasa NV's top player in his first season with the team. Cabanas has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 6.5rpg) and averages solid 53.8% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 26-year old Slovenian guard Sandi Cebular (196-G-86) of Lobe Huesca. Cebular impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 10 assists. Of course Lobe Huesca cruised to a 98-88 relatively comfortable win over Melilla (1-5). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Lobe Huesca managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 12th place. 5 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Lobe Huesca managed to get this year. Cebular is a newcomer at Lobe Huesca and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.5ppg (#7).

The third best performed player last round was Nigerian Andy Ogide (204-F-87) of Ourense (#14). Ogide scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Despite Ogide's great performance Ourense lost 76-98 to the higher-ranked A.Ford Burgos (#5, 4-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Ourense can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have awful season losing so far all 6 games. Too bad for Ogide he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Ogide has individually a great season in Spain. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.8rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Ondrej Starosta (215-C-79) of Planasa NV - 14 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Roberto Morentin (206-F/C-81) of Caceres - 21 points and 8 rebounds
6. Joan Creus (185-PG-92) of FCB Regal II - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists
7. Borja Arevalo (193-G-91) of Clavijo - 10 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
8. Dmitry Flis (203-F/C-84) of Andorra - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists
9. Daniel Perez (188-PG-90) of Andorra - 20 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Jamar Samuels (200-F-89) of Lobe Huesca - 20 points and 7 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
