There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most important game in the last round took place in Vitoria between second ranked Caja Laboral (5-3) and twelfth ranked Blusens Monbus (5-3) on Sunday night. Caja Laboral was defeated by Blusens Monbus in a tough game at home 68-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Caja Laboral. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-68. The best player for the winners was Tunisian center Salah Mejri (217-C-86) who scored 21 points and 6 rebounds. Czech Pavel Pumprla (198-86) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Italian-Argentinian Andres Nocioni (199-79) produced 21 points (perfect from downtown making all six shots !!!) for the hosts. Caja Laboral's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Blusens Monbus moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Caja Laboral. Blusens Monbus is looking forward to face league's second-placed G.Canaria 2014 in Las Palmas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Caja Laboral will play at home against Unicaja Malaga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Undefeated leader Real Madrid delivered the eighth consecutive victory. This time they beat bottom-ranked Assignia Manresa (0-8) 97-84. International Rudy Fernandez (198-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. Sergio Llull contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. American guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) replied with 23 points for Assignia Manresa. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Real Madrid (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Assignia Manresa at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. Real Madrid will play against Cajasol (#16) in Sevilla in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Assignia Manresa will play at home against Asefa Estudiantes in Madrid and hopes to get finally their first victory.
UCAM Murcia (#13) forced the game against G.Canaria 2014 (#5) into an overtime, but lost by two points 97-99 on Sunday night. The game took place in Murcia. But the guests from Las Palmas were better at the end. Worth to mention a great performance of Ryan Toolson who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 assists. David Barlow responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. G.Canaria 2014 have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Valencia and Gescrap BB. Loser UCAM Murcia keeps the thirteenth position with five games lost. G.Canaria 2014 will meet Blusens Monbus (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UCAM Murcia will play against Blancos de Rueda (#11) in Valladolid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very interesting game took place in Madrid. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 15th ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (1-7) to ninth ranked Regal FC Barcelona (5-3) 79-76 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The winners were led by Juan Carlos Navarro who scored that evening 16 points and 6 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Regal FC Barcelona's next round opponent will be higher ranked Valencia Basket (#3) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada will play against Gescrap BB (#4) in Bilbao.

Rest of the games of round 8 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Asefa Estudian. defeated Unicaja in Madrid 85-74. CB Canarias was beaten by Valencia at home 69-73. FIATC Joventut lost to Gescrap BB on the opponent's court 62-80. Blancos de R. managed to outperform Lagun Aro GBC in a home game 76-61.

Assignia M. - Real Madrid 84-97

Undefeated leader Real Madrid delivered the eighth consecutive victory. This time they beat bottom-ranked Assignia Manresa (0-8) 97-84. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid. Assignia Manresa was better in third quarter 27-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Assignia Manresa was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. International Rudy Fernandez (198-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points. International Sergio Llull (192-87) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. The game with biggest result difference took place in Zaragoza. Local CAI Zaragoza (5-3) outscored 16th ranked Cajasol (1-7) 86-55 on Sunday night. The game without a history. CAI Zaragoza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was Croatian forward Damjan Rudez (208-86) who scored 21 points. American power forward Joseph Jones (204-86, college: Texas A&M) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Four CAI Zaragoza players scored in double figures. Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91) produced 14 points and 4 assists and French forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. There was a minor upset when higher ranked Unicaja Malaga (5-3) was defeated at home by eleventh ranked Asefa Estudiantes (5-3) 85-74 on Sunday. Unicaja Malaga was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-12 charge of Asefa Estudiantes, which allowed them to win the game. They made 28-of-32 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Unicaja Malaga was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center German Gabriel (207-80) who scored 19 points. Uruguayan-Italian guard Jayson Granger (186-89) chipped in 16 points. Granger is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Asefa Estudiantes players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Williams (191-85, college: Connecticut) produced 11 points and 8 rebounds and guard Txemi Urtasun (193-84, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Asefa Estudiantes moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated Unicaja Malaga. The best player for the winners was guard Rodrigo San Miguel (190-85) who scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Rafael Martinez (191-82) chipped in 17 points. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. American power forward Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Ricardo Uriz (189-80) added 10 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. CB Canarias' coach Alejandro Martinez let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Valencia Basket moved-up to second place, which they share with G.Canaria 2014 and Gescrap BB. Newly promoted CB Canarias keeps the fourteenth position with seven games lost. UCAM Murcia (#13) forced the game against G.Canaria 2014 (#5) into an overtime, but lost by two points 97-99 on Sunday night. The game took place in Murcia. But the guests from Las Palmas were better at the end. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime then UCAM Murcia managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was G.Canaria 2014 who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 8-6. They shot 60.3 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ryan Toolson (193-85, college: Utah Valley) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 5 assists and Dominican forward Eulis Baez (198-82, college: W.Illinois) who added 21 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Australian David Barlow (205-83, college: Metro St.) responded with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Marcus Lewis (203-86, college: ORU) scored 23 points and 6 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. G.Canaria 2014 have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Valencia and Gescrap BB. Loser UCAM Murcia keeps the thirteenth position with five games lost. G.Canaria 2014 will meet Blusens Monbus (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UCAM Murcia will play against Blancos de Rueda (#11) in Valladolid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

A very interesting game took place in Madrid. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 15th ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (1-7) to ninth ranked Regal FC Barcelona (5-3) 79-76 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests were ahead by 8 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 25-21 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Baloncesto Fuenlabrada outrebounded Regal FC Barcelona 41-29 including 16 on the offensive glass. The winners were led by international guard Juan Carlos Navarro (192-80) who scored that evening 16 points and 6 assists and American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) supported him with 16 points and 6 rebounds. Even 23 points and 6 rebounds by American forward Charles Garcia (206-88, college: Seattle) did not help to save the game for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada. point guard Joaquim Colom (188-88, agency: Interperformances) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. Regal FC Barcelona's next round opponent will be higher ranked Valencia Basket (#3) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. FIATC Joventut was better in third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded FIATC Joventut 37-25 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Roger Grimau (196-79, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Alex Mumbru (202-79) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Four Gescrap BB players scored in double figures.
