The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated River Andorra (7-1) at the home court on Friday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Palencia Baloncesto (6-2) 87-81. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of River Andorra. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 18-7 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Palencia Baloncesto dominated on the defensive end, holding River Andorra to just 7 points in third quarter. Palencia Baloncesto made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by River Andorra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Jamaican forward Geoff McDermott (203-F-87, agency: Interperformances, college: Providence) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) who added 20 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. point guard Daniel Perez (188-90) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to second place, which they share with A.Ford Burgos and Lucentum. Newly promoted River Andorra still keeps top position with one game lost. Palencia Baloncesto is looking forward to face Ford Burgos (#4) at home in the next round. Very important is a road loss of third ranked Leyma Basquet (5-3) against twelfth ranked Lobe Huesca (2-6) on Friday night. Visiting Leyma Basquet was defeated by Lobe Huesca in Huesca 81-65. The winners were led by point guard Adrian Fuentes (183-87) who scored that evening 25 points and 4 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Charles Abouo supported him with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Even 16 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) by forward Asier Zengotitabengoa (200-88) did not help to save the game for Leyma Basquet. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Lobe Huesca moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Forca Lleida. Leyma Basquet lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with Breogan and FCB Regal II.
