The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games, games ending by tiny margin and even winless team recording their first victory.

The most exciting game of round 9 in the ACB took place in Valencia. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Regal FC Barcelona (5-4) to fourth ranked Valencia Basket (7-2) 81-78 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Regal FC Barcelona. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 25-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) who led his team to a victory with 19 points. Eritrean-Polish swingman Thomas Kelati (195-82, college: Washington St., agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, agency: Edge Sports) answered with 21 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for Regal FC Barcelona. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket moved-up to second place, which they share with Gescrap BB and G.Canaria 2014. Defending champion Regal FC Barcelona keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Valencia Basket is looking forward to face league's second-placed G.Canaria 2014 in Las Palmas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Regal FC Barcelona will play at home against Cajasol (#16) in Sevilla and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Asefa Estudiantes (5-4) 98-89. American guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Adam Hanga chipped in 15 points. The best for the losing side was Canadian guard Carl English (192-81, college: Hawaii) with 30 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Assignia Manresa (1-8) left bottom position moving up to fifteenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Asefa Estudiantes at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Assignia Manresa will play against higher ranked Gescrap BB (#4) in Bilbao in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Asefa Estudiantes will play at home against Blusens Monbus in Santoago de Comp and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
ACB top team - Real Madrid (9-0) added another victory to their record on Sunday. This time they beat fifteenth ranked Cajasol (1-8) in Sevilla 71-63. Felipe Reyes nailed 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Brian Asbury came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds for Cajasol in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Real Madrid have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Cajasol lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with eight games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Real Madrid will meet at home CAI Zaragoza (#5) in the next round. Cajasol will play against Regal FC Barcelona (#10).

Fifteenth-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (1-8) used its home court advantage to challenge fourth ranked Gescrap BB (7-2) in Madrid on Saturday. The visitors from Bilbao managed to secure only three-point victory 86-83. However their fans expected much easier game. It was a good game for Kostas Vasiliadis who led his team to a victory with 28 points. Gescrap BB moved-up to second place, which they share with Valencia and G.Canaria 2014. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with eight games lost. Gescrap BB will face Assignia Manresa (#15) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada will play against Blancos de Rueda in Valladolid.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 9: FIATC Joventut was smashed by CAI Zaragoza on the road 77-57. Caja Laboral won against Unicaja on its own court 90-79. Blancos de R. unfortunately lost to UCAM Murcia in a road game 81-87. CB Canarias managed to beat Lagun Aro GBC at home 93-78.



Assignia M. - Asefa Estudian. 98-89

Assignia Manresa's fans can finally celebrate the first win of their team after eight consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Asefa Estudiantes (5-4) 98-89. It looked good early as Asefa Estudiantes took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Assignia Manresa had a 29-24 second period charge getting the lead and Asefa Estudiantes was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 89-98. Assignia Manresa shot the lights out from three nailing 18 long-distance shots on high 62.1 percentage. American guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Hungarian Adam Hanga (200-89, agency: TSS Management) chipped in 15 points. Four Assignia Manresa players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Canadian guard Carl English (192-81, college: Hawaii) with 30 points and American-French forward Tariq Kirksay (199-79, college: Iona) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. A very interesting game took place in Santoago de Comp. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 9th ranked Blusens Monbus (5-4) to third ranked G.Canaria 2014 (7-2) 78-76 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Blusens Monbus took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then G.Canaria 2014 took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. They made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Ryan Toolson (193-85, college: Utah Valley) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. Dominican forward Eulis Baez (198-82, college: W.Illinois) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four G.Canaria 2014 players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Alberto Corbacho (201-84) who recorded 21 points and Puerto Rican point guard Andres Rodriguez (184-81, college: American) added 4 points and 12 assists respectively. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 71-63. International Felipe Reyes (206-80) nailed 9 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and naturalized Montenegrin power forward Nikola Mirotic (207-91) accounted for 6 points and 9 rebounds.
