Top ranked CB Guadalajara (5-2) recorded its second loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Lan Mobel ISB (5-2) 86-74. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of CB Guadalajara. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 44-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Lan Mobel ISB shot 24 for 33 from the free-throw line, while CB Guadalajara only scored eight points from the stripe. Strangely CB Guadalajara outrebounded Lan Mobel ISB 45-31 including a 21-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Antonio Pantin (203-88) who scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Lance Kearse (198-F, college: Eckerd) chipped in 19 points. Lan Mobel ISB's coach Iurgi Caminos used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Jose Balmon (204-81) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds for the hosts. Lan Mobel ISB moved-up to second place, which they share with Guadalajara. Lan Mobel ISB is looking forward to face Cafes Aitona (#9) in San Sebastian in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CB Guadalajara will play on the road against Castello (#10) in Castellon and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Aurteneche M. (4-3) against eighth ranked Prat Juventud (4-4) on Saturday night. Host Aurteneche M. was defeated by Prat Juventud in Vitoria-Gasteiz 84-72. Power forward Gerbert Marti (203-91) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. Alejandro Suarez contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Alex Arcelus (196-85) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds for Aurteneche M.Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Prat Juventud have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place. Aurteneche M. at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Avila and Oviedo CB. Prat Juventud will play against higher ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (#6) in Avila in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
