We bring you last week's top performances from Spaniards who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.

   #1. This week's number one is an international center Sancho Lyttle (192-83, college: Houston, currently plays in Turkey). She was the major contributor in Galatasaray's victory against the closely-ranked Botas (5-2) 67-54 in the Turkish TKBL last Saturday. Lyttle recorded 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Galatasaray M.P. Istanbul (8-0) is placed first in the TKBL. So far her team won all eight games in the Regular Season. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Lyttle is currently first on the list of most steals. She has very reliable stats this season: 11.1ppg, 6.9rpg, 1.4apg, 2.9spg, 2FGP: 52.3% and FT: 62.5%. Lyttle has a dual citizenship: Vincentian and Spanish. Ex-EBE Promociones P.D.V. Santa Eulalia player is currently a member of the Spanish senior national team.

   #2. Second place goes to an experienced international guard Laia Palau (176-79, currently plays in Poland), who plays in the Polish PLKK. She could not help one of league's weakest teams CCC Polkowice (8-1) in their last game. Despite Palau's very good performance CCC Polkowice lost 64-70 at home to the leading Artego Bydgoszcz. She was the second best scorer with 18 points. Palau also added 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 38 minutes. They ended the series of nine consecutive victories. It's Palau's first season with the team. Palau belongs to league's best passers and is ranked #2 with 4.9apg. This year her other stats are: 7.5ppg, 3.7rpg, 2.3spg, 2FGP: 43.9%, 3FGP: 39.1% and FT: 63.2% in the 10 games she played so far. Palau is in the roster of the Spanish senior national team.

   #3. The Spanish player who performed third best last week abroad was an international guard Elisa Aguilar (172-76, agency: Josep and Nicolas, college: G.Washington, currently plays in Euroleague). She led her Russian team Spartak Vidnoye to a 2-point victory against the third-ranked Rivas Ecopolis (3-3) 70-68 in the Euroleague in Wednesday night's game. Aguilar recorded 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Spartak Vidnoe Moscow Region (5-1) is placed first in group A. This season Aguilar averages: 7.0ppg, 2.3rpg, 2.3apg, 2FGP: 41.7%, 3FGP: 55.6%(10-18). She is also a member of the Spanish senior national team.

Silvia Dominguez

   #4. Point guard Silvia Dominguez (167-87, currently plays in Euroleague) managed to help UMMC Ekaterinburg in a victory against the seventh-ranked Perfumerias Avenida (1-4) crushing them 94-62 in the Euroleague last Wednesday. Dominguez scored only 2 points and added 11 passes in 33 minutes. UMMC Ekaterinburg (6-0) is placed first in group C. So far her team won all six games in the Regular Season. Dominguez is the league's best passer with 7.4apg. This year she also averages: 5.4ppg and 2.2rpg in the five games. Dominguez used to play for the Spanish national team last year.

   #5. Former international point guard Nuria Martinez (175-84, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to Kayseri's victory against the closely-ranked Mersin (5-1) 91-87 in the Eurocup on Wednesday night. She recorded 8 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group E. Pankup TED Kayseri Kolejspor (3-1) is placed first. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Martinez's overall stats this season are: 7.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 3.8apg and 2.6spg. She used to play for the Spanish national team two years ago.

   #6. Forward Amaya Valdemoro (183-76, also represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Euroleague) led her Turkish team Tarsus Bld to an easy victory against the closely-ranked IMOS Brno (1-5) crushing them 90-70 in the Euroleague last Wednesday. She scored 11 points and added 6 passes. Tarsus Belediyesi (1-5) is placed sixth in group A. Valdemoro has relatively good stats this season: 11.4ppg, 2.8rpg, 2.8apg and 2.2spg. She is an international player who is currently on the senior Spanish National Team roster.

   #7. International forward Tamara Abalde (190-89, another player represented by Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Eurocup), who plays in France was not able to help Basket Landes (2-4) in their last game. Despite Abalde's good performance the fourth-placed Basket Landes lost 58-68 on the road to the second-ranked VS Praha in the group G of Eurocup. She scored 12 points in 24 minutes. The Regular Season already ended in the Eurocup. This year Abalde's overall stats are: 5.8ppg and 4.2rpg in the six games. She is also Spanish national team player.

   #8. Center Celia Menendez (188-90, currently plays in Belgium), who plays in the Belgian Division I was not able to secure a victory for R.Spirou Monceau (5-5) in their last game. Despite her very good performance R.Spirou Monceau was badly defeated 63-43 in Waregem by the lower-ranked (#7) Declercq Stortbeton. Menendez was the second best scorer with 15 points. She also added 7 rebounds in 37 minutes. It was R.Spirou Monceau's third consecutive loss in a row. This year Menendez's total stats are: 9.6ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2spg in the nine games. She used to play for the Spanish U20 national team back in 2010.

   #9. International guard Cristina Ouvina (174-90, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to a 1-point Wisla Can-Pak's victory against the sixth-ranked Tarsus Bld (1-5) 74-73 in the Euroleague on Wednesday night. Ouvina recorded only 2 points, 7 assists and 3 steals. TS Wisla Can-Pack Krakow (3-3) is placed fourth in group A. It was her team's third consecutive victory in a row. Ouvina belongs to league's best passers (ranked #6) and also on the list of most steals (first place). She has averaged so far 6.7ppg, 4.8rpg, 5.2apg and 3.3spg. Ouvina is also in the roster of the Spanish national team.

   #10. Guard Gabriela Ocete (170-88, currently plays in France) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams Tarbes (4-7) in their game against Aix-en-Provence (5-6) in the French LFB. She scored 5 points and added 3 assists in 19 minutes. Tarbes lost 68-74 on their home court in Tarbes to the higher-ranked (#9) Aix-en-Provence. It was Tarbes' first loss after three consecutive victories. Ocete has averaged so far 6.3ppg, 1.5rpg, 2.7apg and 1.5spg in the 11 games. She is a former U20 international player as four years ago she still played for the Spanish national team.

   #11. International forward Anna Montanana (186-80, college: G.Washington, currently plays in Turkey) contributed to an Istanbul Universitesi's victory against the league outsider Besiktas 88-76 in a derby game in the Turkish TKBL last Saturday. Montanana recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Montanana has averaged so far 7.9ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.7apg. She plays currently for the Spanish national team.


The list of other players, who all have Spanish passport but never been selected to any of Spanish national teams:

   #1. Maya Moore (183-SG-89, college: Connecticut, currently plays in China) led Shanxi to a victory over the seventh-ranked Shanghai Octopus (6-6) 99-85 in the Chinese WCBA in Tuesday night's game. She was MVP of the game. Moore had a double-double by scoring 55 points and getting 18 rebounds. She also added 6 assists (made all of her thirteen free throws !!!); quite an impressive performance considering it's only Moore's second season in pro basketball. Shanxi Xing Rui Flame (10-2) is placed first in the WCBA. It was her team's 11th consecutive victory in a row. It's Moore's first year with the team. Moore is the league's top scorer and also on the list of best rebounders (third place). She has individually a very good year with high stats. Moore averages: 43.0ppg, 13.0rpg, 4.3apg, 1.6bpg and 2.9spg in the eight games she played so far.

   #2. Natasha Lacy (178-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: UTEP, currently plays in Euroleague) contributed to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked CSM Targoviste (3-3) 93-78 in the Euroleague in Wednesday night's game. Lacy recorded 6 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 30 minutes. Good Angels Kosice (4-2) is placed third in group B. This year Lacy's overall stats are: 7.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 4.5apg and 1.5spg in the two games.

   #3. Laura Garcia (176-G-81, currently plays in Eurocup) contributed to an easy victory against the fourth-ranked Young Cats (1-5) crushing them 100-79 in the Eurocup in Wednesday night's game. Garcia scored 12 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Union Saint-Amand Porte du Hainaut (5-1) is placed first in group B. There are only two games left until the end of the Eurocup Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Garcia's total stats this season are: 8.3ppg, 4.8rpg, 2.8apg and 1.7spg.

   #4. Jessica Adair (193-C-86, agency: LBM Management, college: G.Washington, currently plays in Australia) managed to help Townsville Fire in a victory against the league outsider West Coast Waves (2-10) 78-65 in the Australian WNBL on Saturday night. Adair scored only 4 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 16 minutes. Townsville Fire (5-6) is placed fifth in the WNBL. Adair has averaged so far 3.3ppg and 4.7rpg in the three games.

   #5. Lorena Infantes (171-PG-81, agency: Regeneracom Sports, currently plays in Italy), who plays in the Italian A1 could not help Orvieto (4-3) to beat Familia Schio (6-1). She cannot count Sunday's game as one of the best ones. Infantes scored only 2 points. Orvieto was badly defeated 66-46 on the road by the leading Familia Schio. Infantes is ranked fourth on the list of the best passers in the league. She has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.9apg and 1.7spg.

   #6. Experienced Valentina Aragonese (173-F-79, agency: Josep and Nicolas, currently plays in Italy) contributed to an easy victory against the 12th-ranked College Italia crushing them 74-39 in the Italian A2 (12th division) last Saturday. Aragonese recorded 6 points in 23 minutes. She has averaged so far 9.0ppg, 3.0rpg, 1.6apg and 2.0spg in the 10 games. Aragonese has a dual citizenship: Chilean and Spanish.

Artemis Spanou claims Spanish LFB weekly honour - 1 day ago

Greek Artemis Spanou (188-F-93) had an amazing evening in the last round for Girona and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 1. The 23-year old forward had the game-high 26 points adding six rebounds for Girona in her team's victory, helping them to edge out Mann Filter (#14, 0-1) 67-63. The Regular Season in LFB just started. The round was exceptionally exciting as four games ended with a tiny margin. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Gran Canaria (0-1) in Las Palmas on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by Zamarat (1-0) 68-58. The guests trailed by 12 points at the halftime before their 41-19 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Zamarat made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Northumbria signs Claudia Baraut, ex Barcelona - 3 days ago

22-year old Spaniard power forward Claudia Baraut (185-94). She played last season at Lima Horta Barcelona in Spanish LF2 league. In 26 games she had 10.0ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.1apg. Baraut was named to Spanish U19 National Team in 2013. She has played also professionally for other Spanish teams like Cadi La Seu, Lima-Horta and Sant Adria.
