The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most exciting game of round 8 in the LF2 took place in Leon. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Maquinaria Ensino (4-3) to eighth ranked Aros Leon (3-4) 61-60 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 15-9 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Aros Leon forced 19 Maquinaria Ensino turnovers. Point guard Natalia Lopez (171-PG-93) saved the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. Patricia Benet-edo contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds for Maquinaria Ensino. Maquinaria Ensino's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Aros Leon moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Ourense P. and Valladolid. Maquinaria Ensino at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. They share it with Al-Qazeres. Aros Leon is looking forward to face ADBA (#10) in Aviles in the next round. Maquinaria Ensino will play at home against Universidad de Valladolid (#7) and is hoping to win this game.
An interesting game for Pais Vasco (6-2) which hosted in San Sebastian one of their biggest challengers Orion-GDKO (5-3). First ranked Pais Vasco managed to get a 13-point victory 57-44. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Stephanie Madden who added 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Argentinian-Czech guard Cecilia Lineira (180-86) responded with 11 points. Pais Vasco maintains first position in Group B with 6-2 record, which they share with Real Canoe and Alcobendas. Orion-GDKO at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Casablanca. Pais Vasco will play against Leganes (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orion-GDKO will play against Las Rozas (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Arxil Pontevedra is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to seventh ranked Oviedo (4-4) 62-46 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Sara Fernandez Alvarez who scored that evening 20 points and 9 rebounds. Oviedo's coach Ruben Alonso used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds by Olga Fedorova did not help to save the game for Arxil Pontevedra. Oviedo moved-up to fifth place in Group A. Loser Arxil Pontevedra still closes the standings with eight games lost. Oviedo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Arxil Pontevedra will play against Real Celta Vigo (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Valladolid was also worth to mention about. Top-ranked Cortegada (7-0) played at the court of 5th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (3-4). Cortegada did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 75-58. The best player for the winners was Maria Ylenia Manzanares who scored 16 points and 4 assists. Universidad de Valladolid's coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Undefeated Cortegada have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader, which they share with Ferrol. Universidad de Valladolid at the other side dropped to the sixth place with four games lost. Cortegada's next round opponent will be Pabellon Ourense (#8) at home and are hoping to win another game. Universidad de Valladolid will play against Maquinaria Ensino in Lugo.
The game in Barcelona was also quite interesting. Second ranked Real Canoe (6-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Segle XXI (3-5). Real Canoe managed to secure a 9-point victory 58-49 on Saturday. Monica Garrido orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Real Canoe's coach Pablo Roldan allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Canoe keeps a position of Group B leader, which they share with Pais Vasco and Alcobendas. Segle XXI lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with five games lost. Real Canoe's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Madrid to the arena ASEFA Estudiantes.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8:
In Group A Real C.Vigo was beaten by ADBA on the road 73-69. Ourense P. won against Al-Qazeres on its own court 61-58.
In Group B Tenerife was outscored by Alcobendas in a road game 82-56. Gernika managed to beat Casablanca at home 67-63. Las Gaunas was defeated by Las Rozas on the opponent's court 65-51. Leganes beat Asefa Estud. in a home game 62-60.
The most impressive performance of 8th round was 25 points and 17 rebounds by Maria Bolonio of Ourense P..


Group Group A
Oviedo - Arxil Pontev. 62-46

Bottom-ranked Arxil Pontevedra is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to seventh ranked Oviedo (4-4) 62-46 on Saturday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Oviedo. Arxil Pontevedra managed to win third quarter 13-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Oviedo forced 28 Arxil Pontevedra turnovers and outrebounded them 54-33 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by Sara Fernandez Alvarez (-87) who scored that evening 20 points and 9 rebounds and Carolina Hernando (-85) supported her with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Oviedo's coach Ruben Alonso used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds by Russian center Olga Fedorova (189-78) did not help to save the game for Arxil Pontevedra. The game in Valladolid was also worth to mention about. Top-ranked Cortegada (7-0) played at the court of 5th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (3-4). Cortegada did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 75-58. Universidad de Valladolid was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 44-24 second half run of Cortegada. The best player for the winners was guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) who scored 16 points and 4 assists. Latvian forward Dita Liepkalne (185-87, college: Hawaii) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Center Maria Navarro (183-89) produced 17 points and center Maria Parro (183-85) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. ADBA dominated on the defensive end, holding Real Celta Vigo to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Real Celta Vigo 33-20 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Anna Boleda (181-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 6 rebounds. Forward Pamela Moral (175-82) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Guard Arantxa Mallou (181-91) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Veronica Sanchez (179-85) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and Portuguese guard Carla Nascimento (171-86) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Al-Qazeres. Pabellon Ourense moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Aros Leon and Valladolid. Loser Al-Qazeres dropped to the third position with three games lost. Pabellon Ourense will face league's leader Cortegada in Vilagarcia Arousa in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Al-Qazeres will play at home against the league's second-placed Universitario de Ferrol and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There was an upset when higher ranked Casablanca (5-3) lost on the road to ninth ranked Gernika (3-5) 67-63 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Casablanca won fourth quarter 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bulgarian forward Evelina Guneva (183-80, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Power forward Isabel Perez (188-90) replied with 16 points and 6 rebounds and center Marta Garcia (193-86) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Casablanca. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gernika moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with Segle XXI. Loser Casablanca dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Gernika will face higher ranked Las Gaunas (#6) in Logrono in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Casablanca will play at home against the league's second-placed Fundal Alcobendas and will have a slim chance for a victory.

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Las Rozas (2-6) defeated at home higher ranked Las Gaunas (4-4) 65-51 on Saturday. The game without a history. Las Rozas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Guard Alicia Alonso (175-81) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American center Shannon Thomas (193-90, college: Indiana St.) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Paula Estebas (175-93) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and guard Elena Salcedo (170-90) added 13 points in the effort for Las Gaunas. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Las Rozas moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Leganes and Tenerife. Loser Las Gaunas keeps the sixth position with four games lost. Las Rozas will face higher ranked Orion-GDKO (#4) in Galdakao in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.

An interesting game for Pais Vasco (6-2) which hosted in San Sebastian one of their biggest challengers Orion-GDKO (5-3). First ranked Pais Vasco managed to get a 13-point victory 57-44. It was a key game for the top position in Group B. The game without a history. Pais Vasco led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) who helped to win the game recording 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and American center Stephanie Madden (185-88, college: Langston) who added 10 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Four Pais Vasco players scored in double figures. Argentinian-Czech guard Cecilia Lineira (180-86) responded with 11 points and American forward Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) scored 8 points and 8 rebounds. Pais Vasco maintains first position in Group B with 6-2 record, which they share with Real Canoe and Alcobendas. Orion-GDKO at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. They share the position with Casablanca. Pais Vasco will play against Leganes (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orion-GDKO will play against Las Rozas (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.

It was a great shooting night for Leganes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 71.4 percentage. Center Patricia Valiente (185-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Center Laura San Bartolome (187-79) contributed with 5 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Elena Diaz (188-92) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds and center Mariana Gonzalez (187-88) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for ASEFA Estudiantes. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Leganes moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with Las Rozas and Tenerife. Loser ASEFA Estudiantes dropped to the sixth position with four games lost.
