Lucas Sikma claims Spanish LEB Gold weekly honour - Dec 24, 2012

American Lucas Sikma (203-F-89) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best A.Ford Burgos and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com LEB Gold Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 23-year old forward had a double-double of 19 points and sixteen rebounds, while his team beat FCB Regal II (#11, 5-7) 87-72. A.Ford Burgos maintains the 2nd position in Spanish LEB Gold. They are still close to the very top. A.Ford Burgos would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 10-2 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Sikma as usually he does not deliver so high stats. University of Portland graduate has very impressive stats this year. Sikma is in league's top in rebounds (3rd best: 8.3rpg) and averages solid 1.4bpg and 61.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 29-year old German Kiril Wachsmann (203-C/F-83, agency: Edge Sports) of Melilla. Wachsmann impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds. Of course he lead Melilla to another comfortable win 88-73 over the higher-ranked Planasa NV (#8, 5-7) being unquestionably team leader. This victory allowed Melilla to leave bottom place moving a little bit up to 13th position in the standings. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Melilla managed to get this year. Wachsmann is well-known by Melilla fans and he already established his position as one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Melilla's star - Jose Antonio Marco (180-PG-89). Marco scored 16 points and passed nine assists. He was another key player of Melilla, helping his team with a 88-73 easy win against the higher-ranked Planasa NV (#8, 5-7). Melilla can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 3-9 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Marco he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Marco has individually a great season in Spain. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.8apg (4th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Eloy Almazan (199-F-84) of Melilla - 18 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Hector Manzano (207-C/F-80) of Melilla - 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Jamar Samuels (200-F-89) of Lobe Huesca - 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists
7. Josh Duinker (210-F/C-89) of Caceres - 12 points and 5 rebounds
8. Carles Bravo (193-F/G-79) of Palencia - 13 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists
9. Devin Wright (203-F/C-86) of Andorra - 11 points and 9 rebounds
10. Raul Mena (178-PG-82) of Ourense - 9 points, 2 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Spanish Liga Endesa round 18 best performance: Edwin Jackson - 1 hour ago
French Shooting guard Edwin Jackson (190-SG-89, agency: BeoBasket) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Estudiantes, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 18. The 27-year old player was the main contributor (27 points, six rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out RETAbet BB (#11, 6-10) 87-83.
