Perfumerias Avenida Salamanca (LFB) inked 30-year old American swingman Monique Currie (183-80kg-83, college: Duke). She played recently at CSM Targoviste in Romanian Division A. In two games this season she averaged 14.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.0apg and 1.5spg. Currie also played 6 games in Euroleague where she had 13.3ppg, 5.3rpg, 1.2apg and 1.5spg. The last season she played at Antakya in Turkish TKBL. In 13 games last year she had very impressive stats: 16.6ppg, 5.6rpg, 2.0apg and 1.2spg. A very good season in her career as she was selected to Eurobasket.com All-Turkish TKBL 2nd TeamHonorable Mention. Currie also played at Washington in WNBA earlier that season. In 34 games she had 12.0ppg, 3.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.0spg. The other team she played shortly was Galatasaray in TKBL. In 6 games that year she had 11.5ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.2apg and 2.2spg. In 2006 Charlotte Sting selected her as third overall pick in WNBA draft. The former Duke University star is in her seventh season in pro basketball. Among other achievements Curries team made it to the Turkish President Cup final in 2011. She received also State Farm Wade Trophy and Naismith Trophy for the National Player of the Year award back in 2005 at her college time. Currie represented USA at the World University Games eight years ago. She is a very experienced player. Currie has played also professionally in Israel (Elitzur Ramla), Italy (Umana Reyer), Poland (BI SSA Gdynia), Russia (Nadezhda Orenburg and BC Moscow) and WNBA (Chicago Sky).

Spain posted also 28-5 burst in the third quarter and finished the game with 16-8 rally in the last stanza. They tried hard to post three-digit number at the very end, but were happy to leave the court with 92 points. Alba Torrens (188-F-89) top-scored for the winners with 20 points, while Marta Xargay Casademont (181-PG-90, agency: Josep and Nicolas) netted 12. Pascua collected 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Amaya Valdemoro (183-F-76, agency: Josep and Nicolas) also scored 11. Taru Tuukkanen (190-C-77, agency: Regeneracom Sports, college: Xavier) replied with 7 points and M.Sten delivered 5. Korpivaara produced 4, while Aijanen and Pounds had 3 each. Miguel Mendez leaves Rivas Ecopolis and will continue his career abroad. The Spanish Specialist left the team after two years.
Last year Miguel Mendez became Spanish LFB Cup Winner -13, Spanish LFB Regular Season Champion -13 and Spanish LFB Finalist -13. Tintos de Toro Caja Rural Zamora (LFB) landed 22-year old Latvian ex-international forward Linda Rubene (190-91). She just graduated from Indiana (NCAA). The last season Rubene also at Indiana University in Big Ten Conference in the NCAA. But in 24 games she averaged only 1.7ppg and 1.3rpg. As mentioned above she is just out of the college and it is her first season in pro basketball. Rubene was also a member of Latvian international program for some years. She played for Latvian Senior National Team in 2010 and previously for U18 National Team in 2009. Rubene represented Latvia at the European Championships U20 in Liepaja (Latvia) three years ago. Her team won Bronze and her stats at that event were 9 games: 0.9ppg. Rubene has played previously for 47.vsk and SK Riga.
