Montenegrin power forward Bojan Dubljevic (205-PF-91, agency: Beo Basket) had an amazing evening in the last round for Valencia, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 16. The 21-year old player was the main contributor (32 points, six rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Gescrap BB (#6, 10-6) in overtime 113-111. Valencia maintains the 3rd position in Spanish ACB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Valencia will need more victories to improve their 12-4 record. In the team's last game Dubljevic had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Valencia's top player in his first season with the team. Bojan Dubljevic averages this season 13.5ppg.
The second best player in last round's games was 26-year old Senegalese Mouhamed Sene (213-C-86) of Mad-Croc. Sene had a very good evening with a double-double of 19 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Mad-Croc lost that game 74-79 to the higher-ranked CAI Zaragoza (#5, 10-6). This loss caused Mad-Croc to drop to 16th position in the standings. 12 lost games are too many comparing to just four victories Mad-Croc managed to get this year. Sene is well-known at Mad-Croc and is a proven leader in his second season with the team.
Third on the list of top players last round was Tunisian center Salah Mejri (217-C-86) of Blusens M. (#7). Mejri scored 20 points and grabbed ten rebounds. He was a key player of Blusens M., leading his team to a 89-56 easy win against the lower-ranked Blancos de R. (#14, 6-10). Blusens M. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 9 victories and 7 lost games. Mejri has a very solid season. In 16 games in Spain he scored 8.1ppg. He also has 4.8rpg, 1.3bpg and FGP: 62.2%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Lamont Hamilton (208-C/F-84) of Gescrap BB - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Levon Kendall (209-F-84) of Blusens M. - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists 6. Saul Blanco (195-G/F-85) of CB Canarias - 24 points and 2 rebounds 7. Justin Doellman (206-F-85) of Valencia - 16 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Victor Sada (192-G-84) of FCB Regal - 13 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
