The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked CB Guadalajara (8-3) in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by sixth ranked Aurteneche M. (6-6) 89-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of CB Guadalajara. The game was mostly controlled by Aurteneche M.. CB Guadalajara managed to win third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aurteneche M. dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to CB Guadalajara's 40. American power forward Mick Hedgepeth (205-89, college: Belmont) stepped up and scored 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and guard Ander Arruti (189-90) chipped in 14 points. Aurteneche M.'s coach Inaki Merino felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side point guard Sergio Llorente (188-90) responded with 13 points and 8 assists. Aurteneche M. maintains sixth place with 6-6 record. Newly promoted CB Guadalajara still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Oviedo CB. Aurteneche M. are looking forward to face Cafes Aitona (#10) in San Sebastian in the next round. CB Guadalajara will play at home against Fontedoso Carrefour (#7) in Avila and is hoping to win this game.

Guard Alex Ros (192-83) came up with 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for Prat Juventud in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Oviedo CB have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Oviedo CB used an opportunity after Guadalajara lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Prat Juventud at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Oviedo CB will play against Palma (#9) in S'Arenal in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Prat Juventud will play on the road against Lan Mobel ISB (#5) in Azpeitia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Worth to mention a great performance of Victor Hidalgo who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Castello. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Avila. Fontedoso Carrefour lost their third game in a row. Castello will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 13 Palma lost to Clinicas Rincon on the opponent's court 61-66.


La Palma - Cafes Aitona 76-71

Bottom-ranked La Palma managed to get a third victory on Saturday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked Cafes Aitona 76-71. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 45-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Power forward Samuel Dominguez (204-91) fired a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Anaterve Cruz (196-86) chipped in 20 points. La Palma's coach Pablo Melo used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Pope Urtasun (187-80) produced 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and forward Jon Aramburu (204-92, agency: Duran International) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. A very interesting game took place in Avila. It ended with only two-point home defeat of 7th ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (5-7) to tenth ranked Castello (5-7) 65-63 in the game for the seventh place. Fontedoso Carrefour was ahead by 10 points after three quarters before a 21-9 charge of Castello, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Victor Hidalgo (204-86) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Luis Parejo (196-89) contributed with 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Castello players scored in double figures. Naturalized Senegalese center Moussa Diagne (210-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Oscar Herrero (182-87) added 16 points in the effort for Fontedoso Carrefour. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Castello. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Avila. Very expected game in Malaga where 8th ranked Palma (4-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Clinicas Rincon (8-4) 66-61. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-11. But Palma won third quarter 17-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Palma 49-33 including a 36-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Palma helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for Bosnian-Serbian forward Dejan Todorovic (-94) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Luis Conde (193-93) contributed with 12 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Gabriel Torres (198-89) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and forward Ivan Matemalas (193-80) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Palma. EBA newcomer Basquet Girona added to their roster 19-year old Bosnian forward Dino Kobic (200-98). He played last season at the junior team of Zlatorog in Slovenian Liga Nova KBM. In only one game he recorded 5 points, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. Kobic's team made it to the Alpe Adria Final Four. In 22 LEB Gold games in Spain he averaged 10.6ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.2apg last season.
