LF2 is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 11 rounds left. Coincidentally all hosts won their games. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The game between second ranked Universitario de Ferrol (7-3) and fifth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (6-4) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Universitario de Ferrol was defeated by Maquinaria Ensino in Lugo 69-81. The game was mostly controlled by Maquinaria Ensino. Universitario de Ferrol managed to win second period 20-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Universitario de Ferrol 44-25 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. 29 personal fouls committed by Universitario de Ferrol helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds. Center Yaiza Garcia (190-88, agency: Regeneracom Sports) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Olivia Lett (182-90, college: Illinois Wesleyan) answered with 14 points for Universitario de Ferrol. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Aros Leon. Universitario de Ferrol lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with Al-Qazeres. Maquinaria Ensino is looking forward to face Oviedo (#9) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Universitario de Ferrol will play against ADBA (#10) in Aviles and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Fundal Alcobendas (7-4) against fifth ranked Orion-GDKO (7-4) on Saturday night. Visiting Fundal Alcobendas was crushed by Orion-GDKO in Galdakao 62-43. It was a great evening for Argentinian-Czech guard Cecilia Lineira (180-86) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Carla Freitas helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Leslie Knight (184-86) responded with 8 points and 13 rebounds. Orion-GDKO moved-up to third place in Group B, which they share with Real Canoe and Alcobendas. Orion-GDKO will play against Segle XXI (#11) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fundal Alcobendas will play on the road against Leganes (#10) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
An interesting game for Casablanca (8-3) which hosted in Zaragoza 3rd placed Real Canoe (7-4). Second ranked Casablanca had an easy win 65-45. It was an exceptional evening for Paula Palomares who led the winners and scored 20 points. Awa Doumbia came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds for Real Canoe in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Casablanca have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group B with 8-3 record behind leader Pais Vasco. Real Canoe at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Alcobendas and Orion-GDKO. Casablanca will meet at home Tenerife (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Canoe will play against Las Gaunas (#6) in Logrono and hope to secure a win.
LF2 top team - Cortegada (10-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat seventh ranked Oviedo (4-6) in Vilagarcia Arousa 61-56. The best player for the winners was Maria Ylenia Manzanares who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. Oviedo's coach Ruben Alonso rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Undefeated Cortegada have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group A with 10-0 record. Oviedo at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Cortegada's next round opponent will be Arxil Pontevedra (#11) at home and are hoping to win another game. Oviedo will play against Maquinaria Ensino (#5) in Lugo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
LF2 top team - Pais Vasco (9-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Las Rozas (2-9) in San Sebastian 83-53. Miriam Foraste orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Pais Vasco. They maintain first place in Group B with 9-2 record. Las Rozas lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Pais Vasco will face Gernika (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Las Rozas will play against ASEFA Estudiantes (#7) in Madrid.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 11:
In Group A Ourense P. was beaten by ADBA on the road 73-67. Aros Leon won against Valladolid on its own court 59-51. Winless Arxil Pontev. unfortunately lost to Al-Qazeres in Caceres 79-86.
In Group B Las Gaunas managed to beat Segle XXI at home 50-47. Asefa Estud. was defeated by Tenerife on the opponent's court 81-70. Leganes beat Gernika in a home game 63-54.
The most impressive performance of 11th round was 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists by Laura Munoz of Tenerife.


Group Group A
ADBA - Ourense P. 73-67

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked ADBA (3-7) beat higher ranked Pabellon Ourense (4-6) in Aviles 73-67 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-17. But Pabellon Ourense won third quarter 17-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when ADBA won last quarter 20-16. Cameroonian forward Amina Njonkou (185-88, college: Arizona) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Pamela Moral (175-82) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Guard Arantxa Mallou (181-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Pabellon Ourense. Four Pabellon Ourense players scored in double figures. ADBA maintains tenth place in Group A with 3-7 record. Loser Pabellon Ourense keeps the sixth position with six games lost. ADBA will face higher ranked Universitario de Ferrol (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

Rather expected game when 6th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (4-6) lost on the road to fourth ranked Aros Leon (6-4) 59-51 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Universidad de Valladolid won third quarter 13-8. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aros Leon dominated on the defensive end, holding Universidad de Valladolid to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Universidad de Valladolid 40-23 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Teresa Lopez Perez orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Maria Garcia (185-85) contributed with 8 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Four Aros Leon players scored in double figures. LF2 top team - Pais Vasco (9-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed twelfth ranked Las Rozas (2-9) in San Sebastian 83-53. The game was mostly controlled by Pais Vasco. Las Rozas was better in fourth quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pais Vasco dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Las Rozas' 30. Pais Vasco forced 21 Las Rozas turnovers and outrebounded them 39-16 including a 25-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Miriam Foraste (190-91, agency: Regeneracom Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. American center Stephanie Madden (185-88, college: Langston) contributed with 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Pais Vasco players scored in double figures. American center Shannon Thomas (193-90, college: Indiana St.) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and Carlota Egusquiza added 9 points in the effort for Las Rozas. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Pais Vasco. They maintain first place in Group B with 9-2 record. Las Rozas lost their third game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with nine games lost. Pais Vasco will face Gernika (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Las Rozas will play against ASEFA Estudiantes (#7) in Madrid.

Las Gaunas - Segle XXI 50-47

Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Segle XXI (3-8) was edged by eighth ranked Las Gaunas (5-6) in Logrono 50-47 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Segle XXI won third quarter 8-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Las Gaunas won last quarter 13-12. Forward Paula Estebas (175-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 5 rebounds. Cuban guard Licet Castillo (175-73) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Belen Arrojo (-95) answered with 17 points and 7 rebounds and center Judith Sole (190-95) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Segle XXI. Segle XXI's coach Ramon Jordana let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Las Gaunas moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Asefa Estud. and Gernika. Segle XXI lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Las Gaunas will face higher ranked Real Canoe (#3) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Segle XXI will play on the road against Orion-GDKO (#4) in Galdakao.

Casablanca - Real Canoe 65-45

An interesting game for Casablanca (8-3) which hosted in Zaragoza 3rd placed Real Canoe (7-4). Second ranked Casablanca had an easy win 65-45. The game without a history. Casablanca led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Real Canoe to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Real Canoe 37-24 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for guard Paula Palomares (170-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led the winners and scored 20 points. Power forward Isabel Perez (188-90) accounted for 10 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side. Senegalese power forward Awa Doumbia (184-79) came up with 16 points and 7 rebounds and forward Sheila Mangada (183-85) added 8 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Real Canoe in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Casablanca have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group B with 8-3 record behind leader Pais Vasco. Real Canoe at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. They share it with Alcobendas and Orion-GDKO. Casablanca will meet at home Tenerife (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Canoe will play against Las Gaunas (#6) in Logrono and hope to secure a win.

Orion-GDKO dominated on the defensive end, holding Fundal Alcobendas to just 4 points in third and fourth quarters. Orion-GDKO forced 23 Fundal Alcobendas turnovers. It was a great evening for Argentinian-Czech guard Cecilia Lineira (180-86) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Portuguese guard Carla Freitas (170-80) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Orion-GDKO players scored in double figures. American forward Leslie Knight (184-86) responded with 8 points and 13 rebounds and forward Irene Salgado (184-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 11 points and 6 rebounds. There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Tenerife (4-7) defeated at home higher ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (5-6) 81-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Tenerife. ASEFA Estudiantes was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tenerife made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Tenerife outrebounded ASEFA Estudiantes 40-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. Point guard Laura Munoz (166-78, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Forward Alba Pena (177-95) contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners.
