The most exciting game of round 14 in the LEB Gold took place in Logrono. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 7th ranked CB Clavijo (6-8) to third ranked Meridiano Alicante (9-5) 76-75 on Sunday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 23-21 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American forward Shaun Green (203-87, college: Utah) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and power forward Guillermo Rejon (206-77) chipped in 7 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. point guard Enrique Suarez (185-83) responded with 10 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Meridiano Alicante maintains third position with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader A.Ford Burgos. CB Clavijo at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Meridiano Alicante are looking forward to face FCB Regal II (#12) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CB Clavijo will play on the road against Melilla Baloncesto (#14) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Bottom-ranked Ourense managed to get a fourth victory. This time newly promoted Ourense edged fourth-ranked Palencia Baloncesto 75-73. American guard Nick Barbour (190-89, college: High Point) notched 22 points to lead the effort and Andy Ogide supported him with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Ourense's coach Rafael Sanz allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 13 points and 7 rebounds by power forward Roger Fornas (202-82) did not help to save the game for Palencia Baloncesto. Ourense (4-10) moved-up to thirteenth place. Palencia Baloncesto at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Ourense will play against higher ranked Caceres Basket (#11) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Mario Hezonja orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. FCB Regal II's coach Borja Comenge used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest.
