Leader CB Guadalajara delivered the ninth win on Saturday night. This time they beat 7th ranked Fontedoso Carrefour (5-8) 80-69. The game was mostly controlled by CB Guadalajara. Fontedoso Carrefour managed to win fourth quarter 26-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Fontedoso Carrefour outrebounded CB Guadalajara 44-30 including a 21-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was center Jose Balmon (204-81) who scored 21 points and 7 rebounds. point guard Sergio Llorente (188-90) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. American swingman Riley Luettgerodt (196-85, college: Hawaii, agency: I.D.S. Law) produced 32 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. Fontedoso Carrefour's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted CB Guadalajara maintains first position with 9-3 record, which they share with Oviedo CB. Fontedoso Carrefour lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Cafes Aitona. CB Guadalajara is looking forward to face bottom-ranked La Palma (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fontedoso Carrefour will play against Cafes Aitona in San Sebastian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Clinicas Rincon have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-4 record having just -1 point less than leader Guadalajara. La Palma at the other side stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Clinicas Rincon will play against league's second-placed Oviedo CB at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. La Palma will play against Aurteneche M. (#6) in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Azpeitia was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Prat Juventud (7-6) played at the court of fifth ranked Lan Mobel ISB (7-5). Lan Mobel ISB managed to secure a 8-point victory 79-71 on Friday. Joseba Ibargutxi scored 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Joonas Caven responded with 20 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lan Mobel ISB moved-up to fourth place. Loser Prat Juventud dropped to the fifth position with six games lost. Lan Mobel ISB will meet Palma (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Prat Juventud will play against Castello (#7) in Castellon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
We should mention about the upset which took place in San Sebastian, where higher ranked Aurteneche M. (6-7) lost to tenth ranked Cafes Aitona (5-8) in a road game 64-73. Jon Santamaria notched 23 points and 6 assists to lead the effort. Aurteneche M.'s coach Inaki Merino let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Cafes Aitona moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Avila. Aurteneche M. at the other side keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Cafes Aitona's next round opponent will be Fontedoso Carrefour (#8) in Avila.

In the last game of round 14 Palma was defeated by Oviedo CB in a road game 83-74.


La Palma - Clinicas Rincon 50-57 OT

Eleventh-ranked La Palma (3-9) made lots of trouble for third ranked Clinicas Rincon (9-4). The visitors from Malaga managed to secure only seven-point victory 57-50. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But La Palma won fourth quarter 20-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where La Palma used huge pressure winning it 20-10 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 5-12. Clinicas Rincon dominated on the defensive end, holding La Palma to just 4 points in first quarter and to 10 points in first half. Clinicas Rincon held La Palma to an opponent 23.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 25.0 percent accuracy of the winners. Clinicas Rincon forced 19 La Palma turnovers and had a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. There was no surprise when 10th ranked Palma (4-9) was defeated on the road by second ranked Oviedo CB (9-3) 83-74. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-13. But Palma won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (200-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) notched 15 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and point guard Francisco Cardenas (177-90) supported him with 11 points and 7 assists. Four Oviedo CB players scored in double figures. Even 16 points by guard Miguel Corbacho (192-79) did not help to save the game for Palma. Forward Ivan Matemalas (193-80) added 12 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Oviedo CB have an impressive six-game winning streak. Oviedo CB keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Guadalajara. Palma lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. Oviedo CB's next round opponent will be Clinicas Rincon (#3) in Malaga, which may be the game of the day. Palma will play at home against Lan Mobel ISB (#4) in Azpeitia.

Regal FC Barcelona (ACB) added to their roster 29-year old Greek ex-international center Loukas Mavrokefalidis (207-118kg-84). He started the season at Spartak St.Petersburg in Russian PBL league.
