The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

Sixth-ranked CAI Zaragoza (10-8) was very close to win a game against second ranked Caja Laboral (15-3) in Vitoria on Sunday. Caja Laboral managed to secure only one-point victory 74-73. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CAI Zaragoza won third quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Caja Laboral won last quarter 15-16. They made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. It was a good game for Polish-Swedish power forward Maciej Lampe (211-85) who saved his team from a defeat with 14 points and 6 rebounds. Serbian power forward Nemanja Bjelica (209-88, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 10 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Caja Laboral's coach Zan Tabak used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Pablo Aguilar (203-89) replied with 21 points and 6 rebounds for CAI Zaragoza. Caja Laboral have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-3 record having just two points less than leader Real Madrid. CAI Zaragoza at the other side keeps the sixth place with eight games lost. They share the position with FCB Regal. Caja Laboral are looking forward to face Cajasol (#12) in Sevilla in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CAI Zaragoza will play at home against CB Canarias (#15) in Tenerife and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Very important is a road loss of third ranked Valencia Basket (12-6) against sixteenth ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (5-13) on Saturday night. Visiting Valencia Basket was edged by Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in a tough game in Madrid 69-72. Dominican-American guard James Feldeine (193-88, college: Quinnipiac) scored 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and Joaquim Colom chipped in 5 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Valencia Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada maintains sixteenth position with 5-13 record. Valencia Basket at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. They share the position with G.Canaria 2014 and Gescrap BB. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada will play against higher ranked Blusens Monbus (#10) in Santoago de Comp in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Valencia Basket will play at home against UCAM Murcia (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Assignia Manresa managed to get a third victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked Blusens Monbus 83-69. Jose Salvador Arco notched 16 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 13 points and 6 rebounds by Oriol Junyent did not help to save the game for Blusens Monbus. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Assignia Manresa (3-15) moved-up to seventeenth place, which they share with Lagun Aro GBC. Newly promoted Blusens Monbus keeps the ninth position with nine games lost. They share it with FIATC Joventut. Assignia Manresa will meet higher ranked G.Canaria 2014 (#5) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Blusens Monbus will play against Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#16) in Madrid and hope to secure a win.

The best player for the winners was Sergio Rodriguez who scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 17-1 record. Unicaja Malaga lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with ten games lost. Real Madrid's next round opponent will be Blancos de Rueda (#14) in Valladolid which should be another easy win for them. Unicaja Malaga will play on the road against FIATC Joventut in Badalona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Bilbao was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers G.Canaria 2014 (12-6) played at the court of fifth ranked Gescrap BB (12-6). Gescrap BB defeated G.Canaria 2014 81-70 on Saturday. It was a good game for Alex Mumbru who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Gescrap BB moved-up to third place, which they share with Valencia and G.Canaria 2014. Gescrap BB will face Regal FC Barcelona (#6) on the road in the next round. G.Canaria 2014 will play against Assignia Manresa.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: FCB Regal beat Blancos de R. on the road 88-82. UCAM Murcia lost to Cajasol on its own court 73-81. FIATC Joventut managed to outperform Lagun Aro GBC in Badalona 73-67.


Assignia M. - Blusens M. 83-69

Bottom-ranked Assignia Manresa managed to get a third victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Sunday night. This time they won against ninth-ranked Blusens Monbus 83-69. The game without a history. Assignia Manresa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Assignia Manresa especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Guard Jose Salvador Arco (194-85) notched 16 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Troy DeVries (193-82, college: N.Mexico) supported him with 14 points. ACB top team - Real Madrid (17-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Unicaja Malaga (8-10) 91-67. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Real Madrid's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-8 extending their advantage to 24 points. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. Real Madrid players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) who scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. The former international forward Carlos Suarez (202-86, agency: Court Side) chipped in 7 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. It was a good game for Brazilian-Italian point guard Marcelinho Huertas (191-83, agency: Edge Sports) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 8 assists. American forward Pete Mickeal (199-78, college: Cincinnati) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Regal FC Barcelona's coach Xavier Pascual allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Alex Renfroe (191-86, college: Belmont) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and guard Jordi Grimau (195-83) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Blancos de Rueda. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 41-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for American-Puerto Rican swingman John Holland (195-88, college: Boston U.) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Czech point guard Tomas Satoransky (201-91) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American power forward Marcus Lewis (203-86, college: ORU) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Jose Angel Antelo (203-87) added 17 points in the effort for UCAM Murcia. Very predictable result when eleventh ranked FIATC Joventut (9-9) won against bottom-ranked Lagun Aro GBC (3-15) in San Sebastian 73-67 on Saturday. FIATC Joventut made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Strangely Lagun Aro GBC outrebounded FIATC Joventut 37-18 including a 17-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American-Dominican point guard Emmanuel Quezada (188-85, college: USF) who led his team to a victory with 11 points. Naturalized Senegalese forward Sitapha Savane (202-78, college: Navy) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Brazilian point guard Raul Neto (186-92) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and American swingman Qyntel Woods (203-81, college: N.Mississippi JC) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Lagun Aro GBC. Dominican-American guard James Feldeine (193-88, college: Quinnipiac) scored 37 points (!!!) and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Joaquim Colom (188-88, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 5 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Justin Doellman (206-85, college: Xavier) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) scored 20 points. Valencia Basket's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada maintains sixteenth position with 5-13 record. Valencia Basket at the other side keeps the third place with six games lost. They share the position with G.Canaria 2014 and Gescrap BB. Baloncesto Fuenlabrada will play against higher ranked Blusens Monbus (#10) in Santoago de Comp in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Valencia Basket will play at home against UCAM Murcia (#13) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
