American center Mandisa Stevenson (191-C-82) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Hondar.-Irun, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 13. The 30-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 14 rebounds, while her team beat Caja Rural (#4, 6-6) 75-70. Hondar.-Irun maintains the 8th position in Spanish LFB. Hondar.-Irun is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 5-7 record. It was one of impressive evenings for Stevenson as usually she does not deliver so high stats. Former Auburn University star has very solid stats this year. Stevenson is in league's top in rebounds (7th best: 7.4rpg).
The second best player in last round's games was 28-year old American Bernice Mosby (186-F-84) of Conquero. Mosby had a very good evening with a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. Of course Conquero cruised to a 63-51 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Burgos (#7, 5-7). Conquero's 10th position in the standings has not changed. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just three victories Conquero managed to get this year. Mosby is a newcomer at Conquero, but is already one of team's top players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 15.7ppg (#6). She also registered 5.6 boards per game.
Third on the list of top players last round was swingman Queralt Casas (178-G/F-92) of league's top team Rivas Ecopolis. Casas scored 21 points. Despite Casas' great performance Rivas Ecopolis lost 63-74 to #2 ranked Perfumerias. But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. That was shocking loss for Rivas Ecopolis and their fans. Hopefully so far almost perfect season will not turn around. They still have impressive 11-1 record in the league holding top position in the standings. Casas plays for a very strong team and Rivas Ecopolis has many quality players. So achieving that high stats is even more impressive. Casas has a very solid season. In 11 games in Spain she scored 12.2ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Leticia Romero (176-SG-95) of Gran Canaria - 21 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Aija Putnina (191-F/C-88) of UNB Obenasa - 20 points and 11 rebounds 6. Le'Coe Willingham (183-C-81) of Perfumerias - 15 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Vanessa Ble (190-F/C-91) of Gran Canaria - 12 points and 15 rebounds 8. Lidia Mirchandani (172-PG-76) of Conquero - 11 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists 9. Laura Gil (190-C-92) of Burgos - 13 points and 6 rebounds 10. Arhonda Covington (185-F-85) of Cadi ICG S. - 13 points and 10 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
