The most exciting game of round 13 in the LF2 took place in Alcobendas. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Fundal Alcobendas (8-5) to first ranked Pais Vasco (11-2) 60-58 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 2 points. Point guard Maria Gomez (170-82) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals for the winners. American center Stephanie Madden (185-88, college: Langston) chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds. American forward Leslie Knight (184-86) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Pais Vasco have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group B with 11-2 record. Fundal Alcobendas at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Orion-GDKO. Pais Vasco are looking forward to face Segle XXI (#9) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fundal Alcobendas will play on the road against Las Rozas (#12) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Ferrol. Second ranked Universitario de Ferrol faced 4th placed Aros Leon. Host Universitario de Ferrol (9-3) defeated guests from Leon (7-5) 72-60. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Aros Leon. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Olivia Lett (182-90, college: Illinois Wesleyan) who helped to win the game recording 30 points (on 13-of-15 shooting from the field). Kate Mills contributed with 16 points for the winners. Universitario de Ferrol's coach Lino Lopez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. point guard Natalia Lopez (171-93) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds for Aros Leon. Universitario de Ferrol maintains second place in Group A with 9-3 record having just one points less than leader Cortegada. Aros Leon at the other side dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Universitario de Ferrol will play against Universidad de Valladolid (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aros Leon will play against Oviedo (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Madrid. Third ranked Real Canoe faced 4th placed Orion-GDKO. Host Real Canoe (9-4) defeated guests from Galdakao (8-5) 64-49. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Orion-GDKO. Sheila Mangada stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Real Canoe's coach Pablo Roldan used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Cecilia Lineira responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Real Canoe maintains third place in Group B with 9-4 record having just 0 points less than leader Cortegada. Loser Orion-GDKO keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Alcobendas. Real Canoe will meet Leganes (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orion-GDKO will play against Tenerife (#10) and hope to secure a win.
Bottom-ranked Arxil Pontevedra (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 71-68 loss to fifth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (8-4) in Pontevedra. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A. Arxil Pontevedra lost their twelfth game in a row. They still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will have a break next round. Arxil Pontevedra will play on the road against ADBA (#10) in Aviles and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Vigo was also quite interesting. Third ranked Al-Qazeres (8-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Real Celta Vigo (5-7). Al-Qazeres managed to secure a 5-point victory 72-67 on Saturday. Ndidi Madu fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Real Celta Vigo's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Al-Qazeres. They maintain third place in Group A with 8-3 record having just three points less than leader Cortegada. Loser Real Celta Vigo keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. Al-Qazeres will face league's leader Cortegada in Vilagarcia Arousa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Real Celta Vigo will play on the road against Pabellon Ourense (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 13 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
In Group A Valladolid was defeated by Ourense P. in a road game 72-63. Oviedo beat ADBA at home 69-60.
In Group B Las Rozas was destroyed by Gernika on the opponent's court 78-53. Segle XXI managed to outperform Leganes in a home game 65-53. Las Gaunas managed to beat Tenerife on the road 69-67. Asefa Estud. was defeated by Casablanca on its own court 54-61.


Group Group A
Arxil Pontev. - Ensino 68-71

Bottom-ranked Arxil Pontevedra (0-12) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 71-68 loss to fifth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (8-4) in Pontevedra. Arxil Pontevedra was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Maquinaria Ensino dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Arxil Pontevedra's 28. They outrebounded Arxil Pontevedra 28-17 including 19 on the defensive glass. Power forward Veronica Matoso (185-88, agency: Josep and Nicolas) nailed 13 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side and forward Nerea Mendez (180-87) accounted for 20 points. Canadian center Zara Huntley (188-89) came up with 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Russian center Olga Fedorova (189-78) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Arxil Pontevedra in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Arxil Pontevedra's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Maquinaria Ensino. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A. Arxil Pontevedra lost their twelfth game in a row. Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Pabellon Ourense and 7th ranked Universidad de Valladolid had identical 4-7 record. This time Pabellon Ourense used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Valladolid 72-63 on Saturday night. Universidad de Valladolid trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 14 after three quarters before a 11-6 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 63-72 at the end of the game. Pabellon Ourense outrebounded Universidad de Valladolid 38-26 including 30 on the defensive glass. Swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) fired 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. point guard Begona Pallardo (168-92) chipped in 8 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Center Maria Parro (183-85) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and Sandra Castilla added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Pabellon Ourense (5-7) moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Real C.Vigo and Oviedo. Universidad de Valladolid lost their third game in a row. Oviedo moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Ourense P. and Real C.Vigo. Loser ADBA keeps the tenth position with nine games lost. Oviedo will face higher ranked Aros Leon (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. ADBA will play against Arxil Pontevedra (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Gernika - Las Rozas 78-53

Very expected game when 12th ranked Las Rozas (2-11) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Gernika (6-7) 78-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gernika. Las Rozas was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Las Rozas 42-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. Bulgarian forward Evelina Guneva (183-80, agency: Interperformances) fired 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American power forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gernika players scored in double figures. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Barcelona where eleventh ranked Segle XXI (4-9) beat 10th ranked Leganes (4-9) 65-53 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Segle XXI. Leganes was better in third quarter 14-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Point guard Angela Salvadores (175-97) fired 26 points and 4 steals for the winners. Center Judith Sole (190-95) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. Segle XXI's coach Ramon Jordana used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Paula Justel (187-92) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds and center Patricia Valiente (185-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 8 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Segle XXI moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Leganes and Tenerife. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning next two quarters and won the game by 2 points. American center Stephanie Madden (185-88, college: Langston) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. American forward Leslie Knight (184-86) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and forward Laura Jornet (181-85) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Pais Vasco have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place in Group B with 11-2 record. Fundal Alcobendas at the other side keeps the fifth position with five games lost. They share it with Orion-GDKO. Pais Vasco are looking forward to face Segle XXI (#9) in Barcelona in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fundal Alcobendas will play on the road against Las Rozas (#12) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Madrid. Third ranked Real Canoe faced 4th placed Orion-GDKO. Host Real Canoe (9-4) defeated guests from Galdakao (8-5) 64-49. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Orion-GDKO. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 64-49. Real Canoe dominated on the defensive end, holding Orion-GDKO to just 5 points in third quarter. Forward Sheila Mangada (183-85) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and point guard Laura Velasco (175-90) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Real Canoe's coach Pablo Roldan used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Argentinian-Czech guard Cecilia Lineira (180-86) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Ainara Ramasco (169-89) scored 10 points and 7 assists. Real Canoe maintains third place in Group B with 9-4 record having just 0 points less than leader Cortegada. Loser Orion-GDKO keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Alcobendas. Real Canoe will meet Leganes (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Orion-GDKO will play against Tenerife (#10) and hope to secure a win.
