Eighth-ranked Hondarribia-Irun (5-9) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Perfumerias Avenida (11-2) on Saturday. The visitors from Salamanca managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-10. But Hondarribia-Irun won second period 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perfumerias Avenida dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Hondarribia-Irun's 36. They outrebounded Hondarribia-Irun 36-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for the former international swingman Marta Fernandez (178-81) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 6 assists. American swingman Monique Currie (183-83, college: Duke) contributed with 14 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Italee Lucas (172-89, college: N.Carolina) answered with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for Hondarribia-Irun. Perfumerias Avenida have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain second place with 11-2 record having just three points less than leader Rivas Ecopolis. Hondarribia-Irun at the other side dropped to the ninth position with nine games lost. Perfumerias Avenida are looking forward to face Argon Uni Girona (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hondarribia-Irun will play against Gran Canaria (#8) in Las Palmas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

LFB top team - Rivas Ecopolis (13-1) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked Cadi ICG S. (6-7) 68-51. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Cadi ICG S.. It was a quality performance for Aneika Henry who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Aja Parham came up with 18 points and 8 rebounds for Cadi ICG S. in the defeat. Rivas Ecopolis maintains first place with 13-1 record. Loser Cadi ICG S. keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Rivas Ecopolis will meet Navarra Pamplona (#4) on the road in the next round. Cadi ICG S. will play against Caja Rural in Zamora and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

The best player for the winners was Anna Carbo who scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Caja Rural's coach Juan De Mena rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Argon Uni Girona maintains third place with 9-4 record having five points less than leader Rivas Ecopolis. Caja Rural lost their fourth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Argon Uni Girona's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caja Rural will play on the road against Cadi ICG S. (#5) in Seu D'urgell and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 15 Conquero was beaten by Gran Canaria on the road 76-70.
The most impressive performance of 15th round was 21 points and 12 rebounds by Astou Ndour of Gran Canaria.


Bembibre - Burgos 59-43

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked Gran Canaria's (6-8) home victory over 10th ranked Conquero (4-10) in Las Palmas 76-70. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Gran Canaria dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Conquero's 26 and made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Senegalese center Astou Ndour (196-94) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. International power forward Vanessa Ble (190-91) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Bernice Mosby (186-84, college: Baylor) who recorded 14 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Itziar German (184-86) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gran Canaria moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Burgos and Caja Rural. Newly promoted Conquero keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Gran Canaria's next round opponent will be Hondarribia-Irun (#9) at home. Conquero will play against Socinsa Bembibre and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
