Meridiano Alicante (#4) forced the game against Ford Burgos (#2) into an overtime, but lost by three points 66-69 on Sunday night. The game took place in Alicante. But the guests from Burgos were better at the end. Lucas Sikma stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Ford Burgos maintains second place with 14-3 record behind leader Andorra. Meridiano Alicante at the other side keeps the fourth position with seven games lost. Ford Burgos will face bottom-ranked Melilla Baloncesto (#14) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Meridiano Alicante will play against Lobe Huesca (#10) and be promoted back to the ACB just one year after relegation.

In the last two games of round 17 FCB Regal II lost to Ourense on the opponent's court 65-66. Planasa NV managed to outperform Caceres in a home game 71-67. Lobe Huesca recorded a loss to Breogan on the road 63-49. Bottom-ranked Melilla was defeated by Andorra on its own court 72-79. Palencia beat Forca Lleida in a road game 75-74. Coruna won against Clavijo at home 69-55.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 20 points and 6 assists by Albert Sabat of Lucentum.


Ourense - FCB Regal II 66-65

There was an upset when higher ranked FCB Regal II (7-10) was edged on the road by thirteenth ranked Ourense (6-11) 66-65 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 16-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Nigerian forward Andy Ogide (204-87, college: Colorado St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and American guard Nick Barbour (190-89, college: High Point) chipped in 22 points. Croatian swingman Mario Hezonja (202-95) responded with 12 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Josep Perez (184-94) scored 13 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Newly promoted Ourense maintains thirteenth place with 6-11 record. FCB Regal II at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Ourense will face league's leader River Andorra on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

This time Planasa NV used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Caceres 71-67 on Friday night. Caceres Basket trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 27-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 67-71 at the end of the game. Planasa NV forced 23 Caceres Basket turnovers. American guard Stu Douglass (190-90, college: Michigan) stepped up and scored 22 points for the winners and Czech center Ondrej Starosta (215-79) chipped in 6 points and 12 rebounds. Not a big story in a game in Lugo where 7th ranked Lobe Huesca (7-10) was defeated by fifth ranked Leche Rio Breogan (9-8) 63-49 on Saturday. The game without a history. Leche Rio Breogan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Leche Rio Breogan outrebounded Lobe Huesca 34-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. Senegalese center Michel Diouf (208-89) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American guard Anthony Winchester (193-83, college: W.Kentucky) chipped in 19 points. Leche Rio Breogan's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Lluis Costa (186-93) responded with 11 points and 5 assists and Ivorian swingman Charles Abouo (195-89, college: BYU) scored 10 points. Leche Rio Breogan maintains fifth place with 9-8 record. Loser Lobe Huesca keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Leche Rio Breogan will face Lleida Basquet (#9) at home in the next round. Everything went according to plan when first ranked River Andorra (15-2) beat on the road bottom-ranked Melilla Baloncesto (4-13) 79-72 on Friday. Melilla Baloncesto was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-11 charge of River Andorra, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Marc Blanch (194-82) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and American forward Justin Safford (204-87, college: Missouri) chipped in 17 points. The former international forward Francisco Sanchez (201-79) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and German power forward Kiril Wachsmann (203-83, college: Iona, agency: Edge Sports) scored 8 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. River Andorra have a solid series of four victories in a row. Newly promoted River Andorra maintains first place with 15-2 record. Loser Melilla Baloncesto stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. River Andorra will face Ourense (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Melilla Baloncesto will play against the league's second-placed Ford Burgos.

The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-74. Palencia Baloncesto made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and power forward Roger Fornas (202-82) chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds. Palencia Baloncesto's coach Nacho Lezkano used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American-Italian power forward Dominic Calegari (208-87, college: Cal-Davis) responded with 22 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Jose Simeon (187-91) scored 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Palencia Baloncesto have a solid series of three victories in a row. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to third place. Loser Lleida Basquet keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-55. Leyma Basquet dominated on the defensive end, holding CB Clavijo to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Power forward Pablo Almazan (203-89) stepped up and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) chipped in 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Latvian forward Mareks Mejeris (208-91, agency: Players Group) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Mikel Uriz (182-89) scored 5 points and 6 assists. Leyma Basquet moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated CB Clavijo.
