There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most interesting game of round 16 was a home defeat of 8th ranked Pabellon Ourense (6-9) to seventh ranked Oviedo (7-8) 51-45 in the game for the sixth place. Pabellon Ourense was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Oviedo had a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Carolina Hernando (-85) who helped to win the game recording 4 points and 12 rebounds and Miriam Diaz Requejo (-87) who added 7 points during the contest. Oviedo's coach Ruben Alonso used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Oviedo moved-up to sixth place in Group A. Pabellon Ourense at the other side dropped to the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Real C.Vigo. Oviedo are looking forward to face league's second-placed Universitario de Ferrol at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pabellon Ourense will play against Arxil Pontevedra (#11) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Important game to mention about took place in Lugo. First ranked Cortegada (12-2) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 5th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (8-6) 52-50 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and Montserrat Gilabert supported her with 15 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds (made all of her eight free throws) by the former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) did not help to save the game for Maquinaria Ensino. Maquinaria Ensino's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cortegada maintains first position in Group A with 12-2 record. Maquinaria Ensino at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Cortegada will play against ADBA (#10) in Aviles in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maquinaria Ensino will play on the road against Real Celta Vigo (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Seventh-ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (7-9) gave a tough game to third ranked Fundal Alcobendas (11-5) on Saturday. Fundal Alcobendas managed to secure only three-point victory 70-67. However their fans expected much easier game. Laura Jornet fired 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Elena Diaz produced 17 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fundal Alcobendas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group B with 11-5 record having just three points less than leader Pais Vasco. Loser ASEFA Estudiantes keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Fundal Alcobendas will meet Segle XXI (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. ASEFA Estudiantes will play against Orion-GDKO in Galdakao and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Very important is a road loss of second ranked Casablanca (12-4) against eleventh ranked Leganes (5-11) on Saturday night. Visiting Casablanca was defeated by Leganes in a tough game in Leganes 54-63. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Casablanca. Leganes' coach Nacho Garca allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Leganes moved-up to ninth place in Group B, which they share with Tenerife and Segle XXI. Casablanca at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. Leganes' next round opponent will be higher ranked Las Gaunas (#8) in Logrono and it may be quite challenging game. Casablanca will play at home against the league's leader Pais Vasco (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
LF2 top team - Pais Vasco (14-2) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Tenerife (5-11) in San Sebastian 72-47. Worth to mention a quality performance of Miriam Foraste who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds.
