There were many interesting games last round. The round ended with favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.

The most important game in the last round took place in Caceres between third ranked Palencia Baloncesto (11-7) and eleventh ranked Caceres Basket (8-10) on Friday night. Palencia Baloncesto was defeated by Caceres Basket on the road 83-72. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Palencia Baloncesto. The game was mostly controlled by Caceres Basket. Palencia Baloncesto managed to win fourth quarter 21-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Nigerian-Canadian forward Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) who scored 25 points and 8 rebounds. Dutch-British guard Devon Van Oostrum (190-93) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) who recorded 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Caceres Basket moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Palencia Baloncesto at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Lucentum. Caceres Basket is looking forward to face Lleida Basquet (#10) on the road in the next round. Palencia Baloncesto will play against CB Clavijo (#6) in Logrono and is hoping to win this game.
Leader River Andorra delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they crushed 13th ranked Ourense (6-12) 81-60. It was a good game for power forward Devin Wright (203-86) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Dmitry Flis contributed with 16 points and 4 steals for the winners. Nigerian forward Andy Ogide (204-87, college: Colorado St.) replied with 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for Ourense. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. River Andorra (16-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Newly promoted River Andorra maintains first position. Ourense at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth place with 12 games lost. River Andorra will play against Leyma Basquet (#12) in Coruna in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Ourense will play at home against the league's second-placed Ford Burgos and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Logrono was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Planasa NV (8-10) played at the court of eighth ranked CB Clavijo (8-10). CB Clavijo managed to secure a 6-point victory 95-89 on Friday. Mikel Uriz scored 18 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners. CB Clavijo's coach Jesus Sala used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was Edward Cage with 18 points and 7 rebounds. CB Clavijo moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Planasa NV. CB Clavijo will meet higher ranked Palencia Baloncesto (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Planasa NV will play against FCB Regal II in Barcelona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Mario Hezonja notched 17 points to lead the effort. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. FCB Regal II moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Leyma Basquet at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. FCB Regal II's next round opponent will be Planasa NV (#7) in Pamplona. Leyma Basquet will play at home against the league's leader River Andorra.
Important game to mention about took place in Huesca. Fourth ranked Meridiano Alicante (11-7) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Lobe Huesca (7-11) 64-61 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The best player for the winners was Taylor Coppenrath who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Meridiano Alicante moved-up to third place, which they share with Palencia. Loser Lobe Huesca keeps the tenth position with 11 games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face Leche Rio Breogan (#5) in Lugo in the next round. Lobe Huesca will play on the road against Melilla Baloncesto (#14).

In the last two games of round 18 Forca Lleida was defeated by Breogan in Lugo 83-68. A.Ford Burgos beat Melilla at home 85-79.


FCB Regal II - Coruna 67-66

A very interesting game took place in Barcelona. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked Leyma Basquet (7-11) to tenth ranked FCB Regal II (8-10) 67-66 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leyma Basquet won fourth quarter 22-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. FCB Regal II forced 20 Leyma Basquet turnovers. Strangely Leyma Basquet outrebounded FCB Regal II 37-23 including 24 on the defensive glass. Croatian swingman Mario Hezonja (202-95) notched 17 points to lead the effort and point guard Joan Creus (185-92) supported him with 13 points. Four FCB Regal II players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by Ivorian-American forward Jonathan Kale (203-85, college: Providence) did not help to save the game for Leyma Basquet. Center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) added 17 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. FCB Regal II moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Leyma Basquet at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the tenth position with 11 games lost. There was no surprise in Lugo where 10th ranked Lleida Basquet (7-11) was defeated by fifth ranked Leche Rio Breogan (10-8) 83-68 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-68. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian guard Gintaras Leonavicius (194-83, agency: Players Group) who scored 24 points. Senegalese center Michel Diouf (208-89) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale) who recorded 13 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Daniel Rodriguez (182-84) added 14 points and 6 assists respectively. Four Lleida Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Leche Rio Breogan have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 10-8 record. Lleida Basquet lost third consecutive game. Loser Lleida Basquet keeps the tenth place with 11 games lost. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CB Clavijo made 7 blocks. Point guard Mikel Uriz (182-89) scored 18 points and 9 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian center Deividas Busma (212-87, college: Idaho St., agency: Two Points) chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. No shocking result in a game when second ranked Ford Burgos (15-3) defeated at home bottom-ranked Melilla Baloncesto (4-14) 85-79 on Friday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-79. Ford Burgos dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Melilla Baloncesto's 34. Ford Burgos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Lucas Sikma (203-89, college: Portland) who scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Important game to mention about took place in Huesca. Fourth ranked Meridiano Alicante (11-7) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Lobe Huesca (7-11) 64-61 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lobe Huesca won fourth quarter 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American forward Taylor Coppenrath (205-81, college: Vermont) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. point guard Albert Sabat (187-85) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Lluis Costa (186-93) who recorded 14 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Eric Sanchez (181-82, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 10 points and 4 steals respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Meridiano Alicante moved-up to third place, which they share with Palencia.
