Will Hanley
22-year old swingman Will Hanley (200-G/F-90, agency: Duran International) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's best team Oviedo CB and receives a Eurobasket.com LEB Silver Player of the Week award for round 18.
He had a double-double of 23 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat Guadalajara (#3, 10-6) in overtime 98-91. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. It allowed Oviedo CB to consolidate first place in the Spanish LEB Silver. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Oviedo CB has a very solid 12-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. Hanley turned to be Oviedo CB's top player in his first season with the team. Bowdoin College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Hanley is league's best scorer averaging so far 18.6ppg and leads league in rebounds with 11.9rpg. Hanley is in league's top in and averages solid 60.3% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Victor Hidalgo (204-C-86) of Castello. He is a center in his first season at Castello. In the last game Hidalgo recorded impressive double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds. It was enough for Castello to edge slightly higher-ranked Lan Mobel ISB (#6, 9-7) in overtime by 1 point 91-90. This victory allowed Castello to move up to 8th position in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-10 record. Hidalgo is a newcomer at Castello and quickly became one of team's most reliable players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 14.2ppg (#5). He also registered 7.8 boards per game.

Third place about best performers goes to center Victor Arteaga (212-C-92) of Guadalajara (#3). Arteaga scored 23 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Arteaga's great performance Guadalajara lost 91-98in overtime to #1 ranked Oviedo CB. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Guadalajara needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 10 victories and 6 lost games. Arteaga has a very solid season. In 15 games in Spain he scored 10.9ppg. He also has 7.4rpg, 2.1bpg and FGP: 60.3%.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Lance Kearse (198-F) of Lan Mobel ISB - 24 points and 7 rebounds
5. Francisco Cardenas (177-PG-90) of Oviedo CB - 15 points, 3 rebounds and 10 assists
6. Antoni Vicens (202-C-90) of Avila - 21 points and 5 rebounds
7. Victor Perez (193-G/F-82) of Oviedo CB - 24 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
8. David Ortega (199-F/C-84) of Castello - 18 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Jose Maria Garcia (193-G-87) of Castello - 19 points, 4 rebounds and 8 assists
10. Sergio Llorente (188-PG-90) of Guadalajara - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Moron signs Jesus Chagoyen - 48 minutes ago

Aceitunas Fragata Moron (LEB Silver) signed experienced 38-year old power forward Jesus Chagoyen (202-114kg-78). He has played for the last two seasons at Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro CAB in the Liga Endesa. Liga Endesa was a little too high level for him, where in 12 Liga Endesa games he had just 1.4ppg and 2.3rpg last season. LEB Silver will be definitely a better match and he can see more playing time. Chagoyen won Spanish LEB Gold championship title in 2012. He was a member of Spanish...   [read more]

Caceres Patrimonio de la Humanidad (LEB Gold) strengthened their roster with addition of 25-year old Montenegrin guard Nikola Rakocevic (192-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management). It is actually his comeback to Caceres Basket as he has played here before. Rakocevic is not a newcomer in Spanish League where he played most recently at Breogan (LEB Gold). In 29 games he recorded 7.8ppg and 1.7rpg last season. The previous (14-15) season Rakocevic played at Blancos de Rueda. In 32 LEB Gold...   [read more]
