Aros Leon (#4) forced the game against Cortegada (#1) into an overtime, but lost by seven points 69-76 on Saturday night. The game took place in Leon. But the guests from Vilagarcia Arousa were better at the end. It was a good game for Amy Syll who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. Cortegada maintains first position in Group A with 13-3 record, which they share with Al-Qazeres. Aros Leon at the other side keeps the fourth place with seven games lost. Cortegada will face Universidad de Valladolid (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Aros Leon will play against Maquinaria Ensino (#5) in Lugo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18:
In Group A Al-Qazeres smashed Valladolid on the road 59-32. Ferrol won against Arxil Pontev. on its own court 78-61. Real C.Vigo managed to outperform Oviedo in a road game 62-51. ADBA managed to beat Ensino at home 74-71.
In Group B Orion-GDKO defeated Leganes on the opponent's court 77-60. Pais Vasco smashed Las Gaunas in a home game 67-43. Casablanca destroyed Las Rozas on the road 60-36. Gernika outscored Tenerife on its own court 78-57. Real Canoe managed to beat Alcobendas in Madrid 54-53. Segle XXI was defeated by Asefa Estud. at home 60-65.
The most impressive performance of 18th round was 13 points, 21 rebounds and 6 assists by Cecilia Lineira of Orion-GDKO.

Aros Leon - Cortegada 69-76 OT

Aros Leon (#4) forced the game against Cortegada (#1) into an overtime, but lost by seven points 69-76 on Saturday night. The game took place in Leon. But the guests from Vilagarcia Arousa were better at the end. Aros Leon was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-18 charge of Cortegada, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-7. Aros Leon was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Senegalese center Amy Syll (195-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 19 rebounds. Guard Montserrat Gilabert (172-80) contributed with 16 points for the winners. point guard Natalia Lopez (171-93) replied with 24 points and 8 rebounds and center Sandra Martinez (188-93) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Aros Leon. Four Aros Leon players scored in double figures. Cortegada maintains first position in Group A with 13-3 record, which they share with Al-Qazeres. No shocking result in a game when second ranked Al-Qazeres (13-3) crushed on the road 9th ranked Universidad de Valladolid (5-11) 59-32 on Saturday. The game without a history. Al-Qazeres led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Universidad de Valladolid to just 7 points in second quarter. Al-Qazeres held Universidad de Valladolid to an opponent 22.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.5 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Universidad de Valladolid 51-25 including a 15-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American Ndidi Madu (185, college: Florida) who led her team to a victory with 18 points and 9 rebounds. It was a good game for American forward Kate Mills (185-86, college: Massachusetts) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Raquel Asensio (178-83) contributed with 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Universitario de Ferrol players scored in double figures. Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Orion-GDKO (11-7) defeated on the road 10th ranked Leganes (6-12) 77-60 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Orion-GDKO's pressure prevailed and they won that period 22-12 extending their advantage to 17 points. They made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Orion-GDKO outrebounded Leganes 41-23 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Very expected game when 11th ranked Tenerife (5-13) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Gernika (9-9) 78-57 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gernika. Tenerife was better in third quarter 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Tenerife to just 5 points in second quarter and to 14 points in first half. Gernika made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Tenerife 47-25 including a 33-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American power forward Tynikki Crook (185-89, college: Marshall, agency: Regeneracom Sports) who led her team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Izaskun Garcia (168-92) contributed with 16 points and 7 assists for the winners. Power forward Laura Bejarano (182-82) replied with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Isabel Martinez-Vara (173-96) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Tenerife. Gernika maintains sixth position in Group B with 9-9 record, which they share with Asefa Estud. Tenerife lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eleventh place with 13 games lost. Gernika will face league's second-placed Casablanca in Zaragoza in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tenerife will play at home against Fundal Alcobendas (#5).

Alcobendas - Real Canoe 53-54

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Real Canoe and one of their biggest challengers Fundal Alcobendas had identical 11-6 record. But Fundal Alcobendas was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Madrid 54-53 on Saturday night. Fundal Alcobendas was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Real Canoe dominated on the defensive end, holding Fundal Alcobendas to just 7 points in fourth quarter. It was a good game for Senegalese power forward Awa Doumbia (184-79) who saved her team from a defeat with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Sheila Mangada (183-85) contributed with 9 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Real Canoe's coach Pablo Roldan used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Laura Jornet (181-85) replied with 23 points and guard Alicia Alonso (175-81) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Fundal Alcobendas. Real Canoe (12-6) moved-up to third place in Group B. Loser Fundal Alcobendas dropped to the fourth position with seven games lost. Real Canoe will face Segle XXI (#8) in Barcelona in the next round where they are favorite. Fundal Alcobendas will play on the road against Tenerife (#11).

The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 20-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for center Elena Diaz (188-92) who led her team to a victory with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Elena De Alfredo (170-94) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. point guard Angela Salvadores (175-97) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds and center Judith Sole (190-95) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Segle XXI. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. ASEFA Estudiantes moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Gernika. Loser Segle XXI keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes will face Leganes (#10) at home in the next round. Segle XXI will play against Real Canoe in Madrid.
