Dmitriy Flis
LEB Gold top team - River Andorra (18-2) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Planasa NV (8-12) 78-53. River Andorra dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Planasa NV's 24. They outrebounded Planasa NV 46-30 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a quality performance of naturalized Russian power forward Dmitry Flis (203-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Daniel Perez (188-90) who added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists during the contest. American forward Edward Cage (203-78, college: Bradley) responded with 10 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. River Andorra have an impressive seven-game winning streak. Newly promoted River Andorra maintains first position with 18-2 record. Planasa NV lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Caceres and Forca Lleida. River Andorra is looking forward to face Palencia Baloncesto (#4) on the road in the next round. Planasa NV will play against the league's second-placed Ford Burgos (#2) and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
The game in Barcelona supposed to be also worth to mention about. Fourth ranked Palencia Baloncesto (13-7) played at the court of 6th ranked FCB Regal II (9-11). Palencia Baloncesto smashed FCB Regal II 104-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of FCB Regal II. The winners were led by power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) who scored that evening 13 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and Carles Bravo supported him with 18 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Even 19 points and 4 steals by Croatian swingman Mario Hezonja (202-95) did not help to save the game for FCB Regal II. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to third place, which they share with Lucentum. Newly promoted FCB Regal II keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Lobe Huesca and Clavijo. Palencia Baloncesto will play against league's leader River Andorra at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. FCB Regal II will play against Caceres Basket (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Second ranked Ford Burgos (16-4) crushed at home 13th ranked Leyma Basquet (7-13) by 40 points 92-52, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. The best player for the winners was Marcus Vinicius Toledo who scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Jonathan Kale produced 9 points and 7 rebounds for the guests. The winners were led by power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) who scored that evening 13 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals and swingman Carles Bravo (193-79) supported him with 18 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Five Palencia Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 4 steals by Croatian swingman Mario Hezonja (202-95) did not help to save the game for FCB Regal II. Swedish swingman Marcus Eriksson (196-93) added 12 points for the hosts.
