The Regular Season in LEB Gold is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 5 rounds.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Palencia. First ranked River Andorra faced 4th placed Palencia Baloncesto. Guests from Andorra (19-2) defeated host Palencia Baloncesto (13-8) 82-74. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Palencia Baloncesto. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 40-31 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was forward Marc Blanch (194-82) who scored 20 points and 5 rebounds. point guard Daniel Perez (188-90) chipped in 9 points and 7 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. River Andorra have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Newly promoted River Andorra maintains first place with 19-2 record. Palencia Baloncesto at the other side keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. River Andorra is looking forward to face Caceres Basket (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Palencia Baloncesto will play against the league's second-placed Ford Burgos (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Ashton Gibbs contributed with 16 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners. American guard Anthony Winchester (193-83, college: W.Kentucky) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds for Leche Rio Breogan. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Ourense moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Coruna and Planasa NV. Leche Rio Breogan at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Ourense will play against higher ranked Meridiano Alicante (#3) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leche Rio Breogan will play against Leyma Basquet in Coruna and hopes to get back on the winning track.

Leyma Basquet moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Ourense and Planasa NV. Loser Lobe Huesca keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Leyma Basquet will meet higher ranked Leche Rio Breogan (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Lobe Huesca will play against Planasa NV in Pamplona and hope to secure a win.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Pamplona. Local Planasa NV (8-13) was outscored by second ranked Ford Burgos (17-4) 87-55. Josep Ortega nailed 17 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winning side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ford Burgos maintains second place with 17-4 record having just two points less than leader Andorra. Planasa NV lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eleventh position with 13 games lost. Ford Burgos' next round opponent will be Palencia Baloncesto (#4) at home. Planasa NV will play against Lobe Huesca (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games of round 21 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Lucentum defeated Melilla in Alicante 84-66. Caceres beat FCB Regal II at home 85-71. Clavijo was destroyed by Forca Lleida on the opponent's court 90-71.
The best stats of 21th round was 17 points and 10 rebounds by Pierre Oriola of Forca Lleida.


Ourense - Breogan 74-66

We should mention about the upset which took place in Ourense, where higher ranked Leche Rio Breogan (11-10) lost to thirteenth ranked Ourense (8-13) in a road game 66-74. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. It was a good game for Nigerian forward Andy Ogide (204-87, college: Colorado St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leyma Basquet had a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Xavier Lopez (191-83, college: Point Loma) stepped up and scored 14 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Asier Zengotitabengoa (200-88) chipped in 18 points. Four Leyma Basquet players scored in double figures. There was no surprise when 14th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (4-17) was defeated at home by third ranked Meridiano Alicante (14-7) 84-66. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Alicante. Melilla Baloncesto was better in third quarter 20-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meridiano Alicante forced 19 Melilla Baloncesto turnovers. American forward Shaun Green (203-87, college: Utah) nailed 34 points (!!!) for the winning side and his fellow American import forward Taylor Coppenrath (205-81, college: Vermont) accounted for 12 points and 11 rebounds. Meridiano Alicante's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Caceres Basket (9-12) defeated at home 8th ranked FCB Regal II (9-12) 85-71. The game was mostly controlled by Caceres Basket. FCB Regal II was better in fourth quarter 24-5. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Caceres Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to FCB Regal II's 36. They outrebounded FCB Regal II 38-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. American forward Antonio Pena (203-86, college: Villanova) nailed 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Richard Nguema (191-88) accounted for 11 points and 5 assists. Guard Oriol Pauli (201-94) came up with 12 points and Swedish swingman Marcus Eriksson (196-93) added 12 points respectively for FCB Regal II in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Caceres Basket moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated FCB Regal II. Caceres Basket's next round opponent will be league's leader River Andorra on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked CB Clavijo (9-12) was rolled over on the road by ninth ranked Lleida Basquet (9-12) 90-71. The game without a history. Lleida Basquet led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Power forward Pierre Oriola (206-92) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winning side and point guard Daniel Rodriguez (182-84) accounted for 18 points and 8 assists. Five Lleida Basquet players scored in double figures. Latvian forward Mareks Mejeris (208-91, agency: Players Group) came up with 16 points and guard Alberto Ruiz de Galarreta (198-83) added 19 points respectively for CB Clavijo in the defeat. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Lleida Basquet moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated CB Clavijo. Lleida Basquet's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Melilla Baloncesto (#14) on the road and are hoping to win another game.
