29-year old American forward Tony Gaffney (204-98kg-84, college: Massachusetts) left FIATC Joventut Badalona (ACB). In 23 games he recorded 11.5ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.8apg, 1.6spg (in top 5) and 1.3bpg (#4 in the league) this season.
The last season Gaffney played at Telekom Baskets (BBL) in German league. In 37 games he averaged 12.9ppg, 6.1rpg, 1.5apg, 1.3spg and 1.8bpg. He helped them to make it to the cup final. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-German Bundesliga 2nd Team, All-Star Game and All-Defensive Team. Gaffney also played 12 games in EuroChallenge where he averaged 11.6ppg, 5.4rpg, 1.1apg, 1.3spg and 2.1bpg.
The previous (10-11) season he played at Utah Flash in D-League. In 38 games he averaged 10.3ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.3apg, 1.4spg and 2.3bpg that season. A very good year in his career as he was voted to USBasket.com All-D-League Honorable Mention and All-Defensive 1st Team. Gaffney also played at Turk Telekom (TBL) in Turkish league that season. In 8 games he averaged 6.0ppg and 2.4rpg. He also played 3 games in EuroChallenge where he averaged 8.0ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.0spg. Gaffney also spent pre-season at the Celtics in NBA that year.
In 2009-10 season he was tested by Galil Gilboa (Winner League) in Israel. In only one game he had just 2 points, 2 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.
Among other achievements Gaffney played in the final of Spanish Catalonian League in 2012. He received also Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year award back in 2009 at his college time.
Gaffney has played previously professionally in NBA (Boston Celtics) and D-League (Utah F.).
He attended University of Massachusetts until 2009 and it is his fourth season in pro basketball.
Gaffney's game is described as: A forward who brings a high level of energy and athleticism to any teams he joins. He is a tenacious rebounder and great defender. He was the Atlantic 10 Conference defensive player of the year in 2008-09, and one of the nation's leading shot-blockers.
