Controversy has arrived to women basketball in Spain.The spanish federation announced that this season the Cup of Reina will be played in Zaragoza on January.This first statement was some surprising because Madrid was supposed to be the city at first.But the strangest thing was that there will be only 4 teams instead of 8.Cup of Reina is probably the most important event of female basketball in Spain.It's a big basketball party with a lot of fans,surprises,feelings,...And it's a very good chance for those teams which aren't favourites to win the league.Players,sponsors,teams,fans and media can''t understand this decision of spanish federation.It's probably that origin of problem is that the federation has to organize the event.Last season it was reduced number of teams which can go to playoffs too (8 to 4).So it seems that the competitions are made for favourite teams,in the detriment of 'small' and 'medium' teams.Zaragoza's team appears in the middle of problem because they will play Cup as home team.For the benefit of women basketball,spanish federation and clubs should have a meeting to solve problems.Spanish league is one of best of Europe thanks to 14 teams which are playing Liga Femenina.

Granca celebrated in Belgium last night with tiny 73-75 for 2-0 in Group B. At the same time, Dexia fell to 0-2 and its chances for the next stage drastically decreased. Granca celebrated in Belgium last night with tiny 73-75 for 2-0 in Group B. At the same time, Dexia fell to 0-2 and its chances for the next stage drastically decreased. Morgan Warburton (180-G-87, agency: LBM Management, college: Utah) was the leading player in victory with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Arina Markotenko (89) and Aneika Henry (191-C-86, college: Florida) (9 rebs) followed her with 13 pts each. In Dexia, Fannie Vandesteene (176-F-87) scored 19. With this victory Granca made a huge step forward to Preliminary Round. It was a very exciting game decided in the finish. But let start from the beginning and 17-14 lead for Dexia after 10 minutes of play. Until the half time the hosts jumped to 40-33 and it seemed they are on the right track to victory. However, visitors did not have the same thoughts and they totally smashed Dexia in third period. Morgan Warburton and her teammates intensified defense after the breather and at the same time stayed high-productive on the other side of the court. That resulted with 12-27 for Granca in third quarter and later they jumped to 52-62. In the finish Dexia came to 71-74, but Aneika Henry made one FT for Granca after that. The hosts made a jumper with less than 3 seconds to go and there was not enough time for anything more.

CCC Polkowice celebrated in a low-scoring game against EBE Ibiza-PDV keeping the perfect score after 2 rounds in Group D. EuroCup: CCC Polkowice - EBE Ibiza PDV 48-44
CCC Polkowice celebrated in a low-scoring game against EBE Ibiza-PDV keeping the perfect score after 2 rounds in Group D. It was a close match from the opening tip-off, marked by misses on both sides. Neither team held more than 3 point lead during the first quarter, and it was visitors who were up 11-13 at the end of the first. In the second quarter, it was more of the same, as teams exchanged baskets for the most part. With little less than a minute left in the game, the score was tied at 21. At that point, Ibiza players went on 4-0 run to give them 21-25 lead at the halftime. After the break, Polkowice players chased the deficit for the most of the third quarter but visiting team managed to keep them at bay. The game entered the final quarter, with Ibiza still up 33-36. Than in the final quarter, hosts increased their defensive pressure. This resulted in several turnovers by Ibiza which enabled Polkowice easy transition baskets. After limiting visiting team to only 8 points during the decisive period, Polkowice players managed to first tie the game and then take the lead they kept until the final buzzer. Amisha Carter (188-F/C-82, college: Louisiana Tech) led the winners with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Nadia Parker (191-C-87, college: USC) helped with 10 points. With this victory CCC Polkowice made a huge step forward to the next stage. The Spanish squad got 13 points and 9 boards from Shanon Johnson (169-G-85), in their first EuroCup loss of the season. Lorena Infantes (171-G-81) chipped in 10 points.
