The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets.

An interesting game for Gipuzkoa (20-8) which hosted in San Sebastian 3rd ranked Oviedo CB (18-10). First ranked Gipuzkoa managed to get a 9-point victory 87-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Oviedo CB. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-78. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Joan Pardina (202-93, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. American power forward Mike Carlson (206-91, college: Truman St., agency: Duran International) contributed with 19 points (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Brazilian center Felipe Dos-Anjos (218-98) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds for Oviedo CB. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gipuzkoa have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-8 record. Oviedo CB at the other side dropped to the fifth place with ten games lost. Gipuzkoa are looking forward to face CB Prat (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Oviedo CB will play against Melilla Baloncesto (#8) and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
The game in Melilla was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked Leche Rio Breogan (18-9) played at the court of 6th ranked Melilla Baloncesto (16-12). Leche Rio Breogan managed to secure a 4-point victory 105-101. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Matt Stainbrook (208-92, college: Xavier, agency: Three Eye Sports) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 8 rebounds and Josep Franch who added 19 points and 4 assists during the contest. At the losing side guard Marcos Suka-Umu (192-85) responded with 30 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leche Rio Breogan moved-up to fourth place. Melilla Baloncesto at the other side dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost. They share it with Ourense. Leche Rio Breogan will play against Leyma Basquet (#6) in Coruna in the next round. Melilla Baloncesto will play on the road against Oviedo CB and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game between 11th ranked Araberri (13-15) and second ranked Burgos (19-9) in Vitoria-Gasteiz on Friday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Burgos beat Araberri 87-70. The winners were led by Goran Huskic who scored that evening 18 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Burgos' coach Francisco Hernandez used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 19 points by Zaid Hearst did not help to save the game for Araberri. Burgos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-9 record behind leader Gipuzkoa GBC, which they share with Palencia. Newly promoted Araberri keeps the eleventh place with 15 games lost. Burgos will meet at home Barca II (#15) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Araberri will play against Caceres Basket (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Other games in round 28 were not that significant. Caceres was beaten by Palma on the road 97-83. FC Barcelona II won against CB Clavijo on its own court 83-77. Palencia managed to outperform Marin in a road game 84-74. Ourense managed to beat Huesca at home 81-65. Prat was defeated by Castello on the opponent's court 94-79. Coruna beat Forca Lleida in a home game 83-71.
The most impressive performance of 28th round was 19 points by Kyle Cooper of Castello.

Palma - Caceres 97-83

No shocking result in a game when tenth ranked Palma (15-13) beat 12th ranked Caceres Basket (12-16) in S'Arenal 97-83 on Sunday. Caceres Basket was trailing by 13 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 36-19 charge of Palma, which allowed them to win the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. The winners were led by forward Asier Zengotitabengoa (201-88) who scored that evening 28 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Roger Fornas (202-82) supported him with 19 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Even a double-double of 13 points and 15 rebounds by Croatian center Aleksandar Marcius (208-90, college: De Paul) did not help to save the game for Caceres Basket. Montenegrin guard Nikola Rakocevic (191-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) added 20 points and 5 assists for lost side. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Palma moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Forca Lleida. Loser Caceres Basket keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. They share it with Castello. Palma will meet higher ranked Palencia Baloncesto (#3) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Caceres Basket will play against Araberri (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

FC Barcelona II - CB Clavijo 83-77

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 15th ranked Cocinas.com (8-19) lost to sixteenth ranked Barca II (9-19) in Barcelona 77-83 on Sunday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But Cocinas.com won second period 26-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barca II shot 21 for 29 from the free-throw line, while Cocinas.com only scored five points from the stripe. The winners were led by forward Jordi Trias (208-80) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 11 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists and Dominican swingman Dagoberto Pena (198-88, college: Marshall, agency: Duran International) supported him with 17 points and 4 assists. Even a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds by American guard Andre Norris (201-94, college: Dubuque, agency: Two Points) did not help to save the game for Cocinas.com. His fellow American import guard Bryce Pressley (193, college: Portland) added 19 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Barca II have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifteenth place. Cocinas.com lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 19 games lost. Marin - Palencia 74-84

Very predictable result when third ranked Palencia Baloncesto (19-9) won against on the road bottom-ranked Marin (6-22) 84-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Palencia Baloncesto. Marin managed to win third quarter 19-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The winners were led by point guard Daniel Rodriguez (182-84) who scored that evening 19 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Urko Otegui (203-81) supported him with 14 points. Palencia Baloncesto's coach Sergio Garcia Martin used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds by power forward Javier Mugica (200-83) did not help to save the game for Marin. Guard Andres Miso (198-83) added 17 points for lost side. Four Palencia Baloncesto and five Marin players scored in double figures. Palencia Baloncesto moved-up to second place, which they share with Burgos. Marin lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 22 lost games. Palencia Baloncesto will meet at home Palma (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ourense - Huesca 81-65

Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Magia Huesca (8-20) lost on the road to eighth ranked Ourense (16-12) 81-65 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ourense. Magia Huesca managed to win second period 19-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Even 19 points by Lithuanian Jokubas Gintvainis (193-94) did not help to save the game for Magia Huesca. Swingman Mikel Motos (193-93, college: Sammic ISB) added 12 points for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games.
