Elin
Eldebrink

The famous court Antonio Magarinos is Elin Eldebrink (174-G-88) new homecourt. The Swedish point-guard signed with MTT Estudiantes last October. Eldebrink left Sdertlje, her former team Telge Energi and her twin Frida ( who plays with Tarbes France) because she has been feeling the need to play in a more competitive league. Last season, Eldebrink led her team to game 5 of the Swedish Championship Final. She also contributed to the Swedish National Team success with 1st place in the Under20 Division B European Champioship and 1st place in Group B of Division B EuroBasket last summer. This season she is trying to help MTT Estudiantes stay in Liga Femenina. She looks happy about her choice and looks forward to integrating herself into the Spanish lifestyle. I met her before the game against Hondaribia Irn.

What are your feelings on today's match against Hondaribia Irun?
I think we have a good chance to take our first win of the second half of the season! (Unfortunately, Estudiantes lost)

Who is the best player youve played against here in Spain?

I must say Amaya Valdemoro! She can do everything!

What are the differences between the Swedish and the Spanish leagues?

The Spanish league has a higher level. All the teams are good. In Sweden theres just a few teams that are good. The tempo of the game is faster. All the teams play really fast, so theres a lot of running. I like that kind of game, so its perfect for me.

What does Coach Garcia expect from you in this season ? Is it different compared to last season?
I think he wants me to be an important player for the team, to play hard defence, take the ball to the basket and shoot when I am open. Simple things. Its not so different from last year. The big difference is that I played point guard last year and now I am mostly playing 2nd guard.

What are your opinions about Spain and Madrid after four months? Are you learning any Spanish?
I have only been here since October now, and my opinion is good! I like Spain and I like Madrid. Its a big city, and I am not used to it, but iss all! Theres a lot of things to do and see. I am starting to learn more and more Spanish, but now Iam takimg Spanish classes, so it will be easier.

What do you miss about Sweden?
I miss my family, my friends and of course the Swedish food!

How is your relationship with your teammates?
My relationship with my teammates is good! I like the girls. They are so kind and helpfull to me. Its hard that I dont speak Spanish and a lot of the girls dont speak English. So sometimes it can be hard to communicate, but we are trying.

What are your goals for this season?

My goals for this season are simple. I want to be a better player and know how it is to play profesional basketball, since this is my first year abroad. My goal for the team is to stay in the first league!

Hows your season going? What are your goals for the last part of season?

My season is going pretty good. I know I can do a little more, so its time to show it! My goal is that the team stays in the 1st division! Its important!

What are the Swedish National Teams goals for the future?

My goals, and the Swedish Basketball Federations goal is to be a part of the European Championship in 2011. We want to be a consistent team in the European Championship.

Who ware the most important people in your basket career until now?<

Basketligan Round 21: Boras Basket lose to Sodertalje Kings - 1 day ago
The game between third ranked Boras Basket (11-8) and sixth ranked Sodertalje Kings (9-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Boras Basket was defeated by Sodertalje Kings in a tough game in Sodertalje 80-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Boras Basket.
