The first group of players for the Swedish National Team have been announced by coach Brad Dean.
The list includes 27 players, who will be cut to 24 players that will be registered to FIBA for the European Qualifiers roster, and eventually they will be cut down to the 12 players that will represent Sweden in the actual games. The list includes alot of young interesting players, that probably will not make a final roster but that coach Dean wants to take a closer look at, such as Markus Eriksson, Charles Barton Jr and Tobias Borg.

The entire 27-man group;

Charles Barton Jr (Oregon State, USA)
Tobias Borg (Sdertlje)
Carl Engstrom (Univ. of Alabama, USA)
Marcus Eriksson (Barcelona, Spanien)
Anton Gaddefors (Okapi Aalstar, Belgien)
Viktor Gaddefors (Avellino, Italien)
Kenny Grant (Nancy, Frankrike)
Mattias Goransson (Bors)
Serkan Inan (Solna)
Johan Jeansson (Uppsala Basket)
Joakim Kjellbom (Armia Tbilisi, Georgien)
Alexander Lindqvist (Sdertlje)
Mikael Lindqvist (Norrkping)
Christian Maraker (Hoikkaido, Japan)
Brice Massamba (UNLV, USA)
Thomas Massamba (Etha Engomis, Cypern)
Rudy Mbemba (LF Basket)
Martin Pahlmblad (LF Basket)
Andreas Person (LF Basket)
Dino Pita (Sdertlje)
Martin Ringstrom (Norrkping)
Erik Rush (Apollon, Cypern)
Christoffer Ryan (LF Basket)
Anton Saks (Norrkping)
Andreas Schreiber (Tarragona, Spanien)
Jonathan Skjoldebrand (Hapoel Tel-Aviv, Israel)
Johan Akesson (LF Basket)

Jeffrey Taylor (Preparing for NBA-draft), Jonas Jerebko (Detroits Pistons, injury rehab) and Chris Czerapowics (Davidson College, college studies) have had to turn down the National Team this summer but are all in the long term plans and hope to represent Sweden next year, that would be three very welcomed additions as Taylor and Jerebko undoubetly is the two stars of Swedish basektball at the moment ,and Czerapowics is one on the rising.

We bring you last week's top performances from Swedish players who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level. Maciej Lampe (211-C/F-85) could not help Leopards (26-12) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Leopards lost 90-103 on the road to the second-ranked Guandong Tigers.    [read more]
