U16 GREECE - U16 SWEDEN 60-53

Greece finally registered first win in the Qualifying Group E of U16 EuroBasket. They outplayed Sweden 60-53 to avoid the last place in this pool (1-4). At the other side, Sweden ended this stage winless (0-5) and both teams failed to reach the Quarterfinals. They will be transferred to Classification Games from 9th-12th place. Greece had wonderful beginning as they made 11-point lead in the first ten minutes, but Sweden answered with 9-20 after that. Third quarter was the crucial one in this meeting and Greece won it by 15 (21-6). Later they managed to keep the lead for rest of the way, despite Sweden seriously threatened few times. Maria Goula (178-G/F-96) top-scored for the winners with 16 points and Eleanna Christinaki (181-G-96) helped with 13 points, plus 5 rebs. Kleanthi Oikonomaki (182-F-96) followed them with 7 points and 14 rebs. In Sweden, Sigrid Sandstrom (177-G-96) collected 14 pts and 7 rebs, and Anna Lundqvist (176-G-96) scored 12 pts. Their third scorer was Rebecka Garderyd (173-PG-96) with 7 points. Teams will take a rest on Thursday.
