Kristijan Nikolov (185-G-96) pulls F.Y.R. of Macedonia over Sweden in the start of the Second Stage in Group E. His team started the Elite Eight of the U16 European Championship in Division B with a thrilling 67:64 victory.
F.Y.R. of Macedonia opened the game with 23-15, but could not dominate the half. The Scandinavian team replied with 23-12 in the second quarter as Ludvig Hakanson (190-PG-96) closed the half at 38:35. Both teams nailed 17 points each in the third quarter as the board showed 55:52 at the end of three quarters. Andrej Cvetkovski (185-G-96) brought F.Y.R. of Macedonia 56L55 lead early in the fourth, while Kristijan Nikolov scored for 60:59. Simeon Mitrov (179-PG-96) meanwhile closed the game for the final 3-point victory.
Kristijan Nikolov paced all the winners with 32 points and Andrej Magdevski (190-G-96) had 15. Simeon Mitrov and Andrej Cvetkovski followed them with 6 points each. William Skagius (200-PF-96) replied with 20 points and 18 rebounds in the losing effort for 1-1 record. Ludvig Hakanson added 15, while Erik Johansson (194-F-96) scored 12.
