It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Basketettan, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results.

Group North
Umea - BG Lulea 93-64
The game without a history. Umea led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to BG Lulea's 30. Umea forced 22 BG Lulea turnovers and outrebounded them 38-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was forward Egal Saleman (199-88) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Per Bergmark (195-89) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was David Niklasson (-95) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Andreas Von Uthmann (196-96) added 13 points and 6 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively.

The game without a history. Orongo Dragons led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to BG Lulea's 44. Orongo Dragons forced 22 BG Lulea turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward William Gutenius (205-92) who scored 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Joakim Holmback (176-94) chipped in 18 points. Akropol - Fryshuset 85-60
Akropol led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Akropol shot 27 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Fryshuset only scored six points from the stripe. Fryshuset was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Corrie Sutherlin (183-81) who scored 16 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Naturalized Greek forward Athanasios Kalpakas (198-84) chipped in 14 points. Four Akropol players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Ugandan guard Kassim Nagwere (187-90) who recorded 11 points and 9 rebounds and Nathan Dawit (189-94) added 14 points and 4 steals respectively.

The game was mostly controlled by Alvik Basket. Jarva Devils was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Alvik Basket forced 27 Jarva Devils turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Olof Jagbeck (188-91) who scored 20 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. American forward Jakob Andersson (196, college: Allan Hancock CC) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. Four Alvik Basket players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Kevin Olofsson (-92) who recorded 28 points and guard Omid Behboudi (191-86) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest.

The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 21-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. KFUM Uppsala forced 19 Solna Branten turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Lukas Friberg (183-95) who scored 12 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Alexander Gorski (194-94) chipped in 15 points. At the other side the best for losing team was Niklas Larsson (198-94) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Patrik Horman (186-94) added 16 points respectively. Five KFUM Uppsala and four Solna Branten players scored in double figures.

The game was mostly controlled by Haga Haninge. Hoganas was better in third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haga Haninge forced 26 Hoganas turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was guard Bjorn Johansson (190-83) who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Tomas Oberg (183-82) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. Haga Haninge's coach Stefan Ameln used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was Lithuanian forward Nerijus Strazdauskas (198-84) who recorded 24 points and 9 rebounds and Lithuanian power forward Linas Savickas (197-79) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively.

The game was mostly controlled by Taby Basket. Akropol was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Taby Basket forced 19 Akropol turnovers and outrebounded them 36-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a good game for swingman Johan Westerlund (191-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists. Swingman Erik Andersson (197-87) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Taby Basket players scored in double figures. Guard Samuel Desport (183-83) answered with 13 points and naturalized Greek forward Athanasios Kalpakas (198-84) added 11 points in the effort for Akropol.

Brahe Basket - Eos 71-86
The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-71. IK Eos forced 26 Brahe Basket turnovers. It was a great evening for guard Adnan Karovic (187-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) and 4 steals. Center David Hult (204-89) helped adding 20 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was naturalized Nigerian forward Kevin Ukhagbe (200-85, college: Bethany, KS) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds and Jamaican center Hugh Robinson (202-83) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 8 blocks. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Malbas Oresund Malmo (Basketligan) landed American center Jake Zuilhof (206-104kg). He just graduated from Cent.Arkansas (NCAA). In 28 games he averaged 6.3ppg, 6.7rpg and 1.3bpg last season. As mentioned above Zuilhof is just out of the college and it will be his first season in pro basketball.
