Niklas
Sellin
Forward Niklas Sellin (197-F-91) had an amazing evening in the last round for Helsingborg, receiving a Eurobasket.com Basketettan Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 21-year old player had a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Sanda (#12, 0-6) with 48-point margin 98-50. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings in South. Helsingborg is placed at 10th position in Swedish Basketettan. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 5 games and recorded just one victory. Sellin turned to be Helsingborg's top player in his first season with the team. Niklas Sellin has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (6th best: 19.2ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 10.4rpg) and averages impressive 2.6spg.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old Egal Saleman (199-F-88) of Umea. Saleman had a very good evening with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Of course he lead Umea to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Uppsala KFUM (#7, 2-3) 92-65. Umea's 3rd position in North has not changed. His team lost just one game this season, while they won 5 matches. Saleman is a newcomer at Umea, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.7ppg (#4). He also registered 9.7 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was center Jean Alix (200-C-79) of Jarfalla (#8). Alix got into 30-points club by scoring exactly 30 points in the last round. He went also for ten rebounds . Despite Alix's great performance Jarfalla lost 93-109 to the league's current leader Eos (#1, 5-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Jarfalla ranking at the top of South, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Alix could help Jarfalla to bring them higher in the standings. Alix has a very solid season. In 3 games in Sweden he scored 26.7ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Christian Koutras (189-G-88) of Akropol - 17 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists
5. Lluis Jacas (198-F-90) of Eskilstuna - 28 points and 7 rebounds
6. Lluis Jacas (198-F-90) of Eskilstuna - 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists
7. Gustav Nystrom (189-G-89) of Eos - 10 points, 6 rebounds and 10 assists
8. Daniel Urban (198-F-88) of Eskilstuna - 15 points and 7 rebounds
9. Timothy Kearney (200-F/G-86) of LF Future - 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists
10. Adnan Karovic (187-G-88) of Eos - 26 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Basketligan Round 4: KFUM Jamtland keeps a leadership position - 20 hours ago
After 4 rounds played we can already see who rules in the Basketligan and who belongs to weaker ones. The game had a very big importance for second-ranked KFUM Jamtland as it allowed them to take a leadership position. KFUM Jamtland defeated 6th ranked Uppsala Basket in Ostersund 66-59. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 14-12. But Uppsala Basket won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wo...   [read more]

Basketettan Round 5: Hammarby hands first defeat to RIG Mark - 20 hours ago
It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Basketettan, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with loss of the undefeated team, favorites losing the games and even winless team recording their first victory. RIG Mark (3-1) recorded its first loss in Stockholm on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by sixth ranked Hammarby (2-1) 89-85. It ended at the sa...   [read more]
