BK Ventspils- Sodertalje Kings 90:56

BK Ventspils won Group C undefeated and proved their ambitions at EuroChallenge. The Latvian side needed a 90:56 win over Sodertalje Kings for 5-0 record. The Swedish side finished with 2-4 record.
Sodertalje Kings needed the victory more, but could not do anything against the favorite of the group. BK Ventspils opened the game with 20-14 and never looked behind. The Latvian side posted a 27-19 in the second frame and enjoyed 47:33 halftime advantage. Moreover the hosts posted the victories in the second half as well. They won the third period 21-17 and finished the game with 22-6 in the last quarter.
Janis Timma (201-F-92, agency: FCM) paced all the winners with 18 points, while Folarin Campbell (192-G-86, college: George Mason), Arturs Berzins (204-PF-88, agency: FCM) and Martins Laksa (200-SF-90, agency: FCM) notched 12 apiece. Donald Sims (185-PG-87, college: Appalachian St.) followed them with 10 points in a win. Toni Bizaca (202-F-82) replied with 19 points in defeat and Dino Pita (192-SG-88) brought 11.

Umea BSKT (Basketligan) signed 28-year old American forward George Valentine (203-101kg-88, college: Winthrop, agency: Mansfield and Associates). He played last season at BK Levicki Patrioti in Slovakian SBL league. In 34 games he had 9.8ppg, 6.8rpg, 1.1apg and 1.8spg (in top 5). A very impressive season as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Slovakian League Honorable Mention. Solna Vikings (D2) inked 55-year old coach Ake Barlin. He has coached lately at Jarfalla in Swedish D2 league. Barlin was coaching Swedish U18 National Team two years ago. Sandringham Sabres (SEABL) tabbed 28-year old American point guard Corin Henry (180-88, college: Tarleton State, agency: Octagon Europe). He moved there from KFUM Jamtland Basket in Swedish Basketligan where he started the season. In 32 games he was the best scorer with impressive 20.6ppg and recorded 4.3rpg, 5.7apg (top 4) and 2.1spg (in top 2) this season.
