Basketligan Round 19: Leader Sundsvall Dragons lose to Sodertalje Kings - Dec 30, 2012

The round was rather attractive and full of interesting results. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games.

Top ranked Sundsvall Dragons (16-3) recorded its third loss on the court of sixth ranked Sodertalje Kings on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Sodertalje Kings 76-70. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Sundsvall Dragons. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 21-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American center Kenneth Simms (203-86, college: Cumberland) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Bosnian forward Toni Bizaca (202-82) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. Sodertalje Kings' coach Vedran Bosnic used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Michael Cuffee (195-83, college: Middle Tenn.St.) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Sodertalje Kings have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Sundsvall Dragons at the other side still keep top position with three games lost. Sodertalje Kings are looking forward to face LF Basket (#8) in Lulea in the next round. Sundsvall Dragons will play at home against Solna Vikings (#4) and are hoping to win this game.
Leader Sundsvall Dragons delivered the sixteenth victory. This time they beat 9th ranked KFUM Jamtland (5-14) 90-75. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Michael Cuffee (195-83, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Hlynur Baeringsson contributed with 16 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. American-Liberian power forward Boakai Lalugba (202-81, college: Bucknell) answered with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for KFUM Jamtland. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sundsvall Dragons (16-3) have an impressive series of thirteen victories in a row. They maintain first place. KFUM Jamtland lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 14 games lost. Sundsvall Dragons will play against Solna Vikings (#4) at home in the next round. KFUM Jamtland will play against LF Basket (#8) in Lulea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
The game in Stockholm was also quite interesting. Third ranked Uppsala Basket (14-5) played at the court of 7th ranked 08 Stockholm (9-9). Uppsala Basket defeated 08 Stockholm 96-86 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Thomas Jackson who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). At the losing side Kodi Augustus responded with 19 points. Uppsala Basket moved-up to second place, which they share with Boras. Loser 08 Stockholm keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Uppsala Basket will meet Norrkoping Dolphins (#6) in the next round. 08 Stockholm will play against Eco Orebro and hope to secure a win.
The game in Lulea was also worth to mention about. Third ranked Boras Basket (14-5) played at the court of 8th ranked LF Basket (8-10). Boras Basket defeated LF Basket 106-91. It was an exceptional evening for James Miller who led the winners and scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Boras Basket. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Uppsala. LF Basket at the other side keeps the eighth position with ten games lost. Boras Basket's next round opponent will be Sodertalje Kings (#5) at home. LF Basket will play against Sodertalje Kings.
The game with biggest result difference took place in Solna. Local Solna Vikings (12-7) outscored 10th ranked White Eagles (4-15) 99-66 on Friday night. Justin Sedlak fired 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Solna Vikings' coach Aris Likogiannis felt very confident that he used entire bench saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Solna Vikings. They moved-up to fourth place. White Eagles lost their seventh game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. Solna Vikings will face league's leader Sundsvall Dragons on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. White Eagles will play against Nassjo (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 19 Eco Orebro defeated Nassjo in a road game 80-74.
The best stats of 19th round was 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists by Henry Dugat of LF Basket.

The game without a history. Boras Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great shooting night for Boras Basket especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard James Miller (180-79, college: N.Carolina A&T, agency: Higher Vision Sports) who led the winners and scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Norwegian-American guard Terrence Oglesby (188-88, college: Clemson) accounted for 22 points and 6 assists for the winning side. American guard Henry Dugat (183-87, college: Baylor) came up with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and American-German center Urule Igbavboa (203-87, college: Valparaiso) added 18 points and 7 rebounds respectively for LF Basket in the defeat.
