Estonia - Sweden 73:84

Sweden clinched the opening win at the traditional Baltic Sea Basketball Cup tournament in the Estonian capital. Tobias Sjoberg came up with 24 points and 7 rebounds to pace the visitors.
Sweden got to a strong start. The Scandinavian side posted a 23:13 lead ten minutes into the game. Sweden stretched the lead in the second quarter. They accounted for a 47:31 halftime lead. Estonia tried to put up a comeback effort in the third term. The hosts cut the deficit back to single digits. They trailed by 9 points into the final frame. Sweden however limited their opponents at 16 points in the fourth period and sealed the victory at the end. Gustav Ericson chipped in 15 points, while Craig Lecesne added 12 points for the winners. Robert Valge (97) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds for Estonia. Ken Kuber (97) had 12 points in the loss.

KFUM Nassjo Basket (Basketligan) landed 25-year old American guard Angelo Griffis (196-91kg-92). He just graduated from Rochester College (NAIA). In 29 games he averaged impressive 20.8ppg, 7.6rpg and 3.0apg last season. It was a very successful year in his career as he was awarded All-AII Div.II Player of the Year, selected to All-AII Div.II 1st Team and selected to All-NAIA D2 3rd Team. KFUM Nassjo Basket (Basketligan) agreed terms with 18-year old naturalized American guard David Czerapowicz (189-99). He has played for the last two seasons at RIG Mark in the Basketettan. In 17 games he had 14.7ppg, 3.6rpg, 2.1apg and 1.2spg last season. Quite impressive year as he was named to Eurobasket.com All-Swedish BasketEttan Honorable Mention. BC Lulea (Basketligan) confirmed in their roster 27-year old point guard Adam Ronnqvist (181-78kg-90). He has played there for the last five seasons. In 45 Basketligan games he recorded 12.7ppg, 2.4rpg and 3.2apg last season. Ronnqvist helped them to win the league title (twice) (also twice).
