Latvia claimed the second consecutive victory at the start of the annual Baltic Sea Basketball Cup. They overcame Swedish counterparts in Tallinn tonight. Edgars Lasenbergs (186-G-95) produced 19 points to pace the winners. Latvia enjoyed a 16:14 lead after ten minutes of action. They fired 28 points in the second frame to take a 44:30 halftime advantage. Latvia stretched the lead in the third term. They enjoyed an 18-point lead at the final intermission. Sweden limited Latvia to just 7 points in the fourth frame but just cut the deficit at the end. Ervins Meznieks-Zahars (194-F-96) finished with 11 points, while Andzejs Pasecniks (211-C-95) added 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Erik Johansson (194-F-96) answered with 20 points for Sweden. Gustav Hansson (182-G-95) chipped in 10 points in the loss.

Yesterday the Swedish Federation announced that two out of the leagues twelve teams have not been approved as members of Basketligan 2013-2014. Both 08 Stockholm Human Rights and Stockholm Eagles have been kicked out of the league due to various reasons. 08 Stockholm is kicked out because their organisation doesn't meet the standards of Basketligan, and Stockholm Eagles have not handled paperworks with work permits and staying permits for their american players correctly, and the federation have found that the club have debts. The league next year will now be played with 10 teams instead of 12.
