The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Akropol as it allowed them to take a leadership position in North. Akropol edged their biggest opponent Taby Basket in Spanga 87-86. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Taby Basket. It was a key game for the top position in North. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 22-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Akropol outrebounded Taby Basket 41-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Taby Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Naturalized Greek guard Christian Koutras (189-88, college: Cuesta JC) fired 20 points and 9 assists for the winners. Forward Richard Hartmann (201-89) chipped in 18 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field).
