American guard Michele Miller (180-G-85) put on an amazing game in the last round for Visby, receiving a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 17. The 27-year old player had a double-double of 22 points and 15 rebounds, while her team beat Kvarnby (#7, 6-10) 69-64. Visby is placed at 10th position in Swedish Damligan. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 12 games and recorded just four victories. Miller turned to be Visby's top player in her first season with the team. Former Xavier University star has very solid stats this year. Miller is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.1ppg), rebounds (7th best: 7.7rpg) and averages impressive 2.1spg.
The second best player in last round's games was 27-year old American Brittany Smart (175-G-85) of Kvarnby. Smart had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Kvarnby lost that game 64-69 to the lower-ranked Visby (#10, 4-12). Kvarnby managed to keep the same 7th spot in the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 6-10 record. Smart is one of the most experienced players at Kvarnby and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#4). Her other stats are also decent: 9.1rpg and 3.9apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was another Visby's star - American forward Earnesia Williams (185-F-87). Williams scored 25 points and grabbed seventeen rebounds (!!!). She was another key player of Visby, helping her team with a 69-64 win against the higher-ranked Kvarnby (#7, 6-10). Visby can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-12 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Williams she does not play for a better team. But maybe if she did, her season stats would not be that high. Williams has a very solid season. In 6 games in Sweden she scored 20.3ppg.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Rashada McCants (185-G/F-86) of Telge - 17 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists 5. Jennifer Stjarnstrom (187-F/C-87) of Telge - 9 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists 6. Malin Aasa (180-SG-87) of Norrkoping - 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists 7. Angelique Robinson (179-F) of Telge - 16 points and 5 rebounds 8. Josefin Vesterberg (187-F/C-93) of Northland - 11 points and 9 rebounds 9. Hanna Johansson (187-F-89) of Norrkoping - 16 points and 4 rebounds 10. Katarina Andersson (191-C-83) of Solna Vikings - 10 points and 7 rebounds
The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
